--00 (rev) or redline setting

Ok, I am writing this to maybe help others. I've been having problems with my car. First of all, at take off it bogs down until 1000 rpms. Almost like the fuel cuts off or the throttle gets stuck then abruptly it takes off. Second it been feeling really unstable at first I believed I had bent something. The car would sway almost as if the a wheel was loose, or really warped. Taking a corner wasn't smooth, almost like the car was really loose. This was all the bad and I had no idea what was going on!!! Almost gave up on her!! Well today I was watching YouTube and there's a video on ther about 10 free mods for our car. One of them was how to set redline!! I thought to my self---why not--- so I checked the rev limiter and it said (--00) wtf. Does anybody know what this is or what it stood for? Anyways I set the rev limiter, turned on the shift light, and turned on the transmission shift numbers! Low and behold took it for a drive and like all my problems have disappeared. Doesn't bog and drives straight as an arrow now. And turns like it use to!!!!!!! All I can think is I was having some programming issue and some how it was reset!! Any ideas??? Hopes this helps someone!!! Check yours to be on the safe side cause I'm not sure how my got this way!!

Activating, deactivating or stting the rev indicator (which is NOT a rev limiter) shouldn't have affected any of those aberrations your car had. Note, a deactivated rev indicator will read "00".

How many beers did you have setting the rev indicator .......??

Well....
The "rev redline" is just a glorified shift light. You can set at any rev for shits and giggles.
My guess, seems like you bought your car used right? If so I'm betting it has some type of shitty tune before.

That's the problem with shitty tunes, they are linked to some weird dash controls. One has the cruise control to switch tune maps. Great if you know it's there, sucks donkey **** for the next owner that doesn't know.

As far as the swaying, check your rear tire's pressure. Having 10psi more or less on one wheel will make it act weird.

I went in to change the rev limiter! And instead of showing something like 7400. It show --00 on my dash. So I set it and everything seems to work. And yes I wouldn't think it would effect those things too. But I'm telling you it's like all my bugs are gone. Thought about it if the computer has a faulty setting on the rev limiter then maybe it was cause some kind of limp mode or something. I mean when I took off maybe the rev limiter tried to kick on at like o rpms and big it down. And the other prob I don't know but there gone. As for the steering it seems as if the computer has relearned something too cause my steering is stable now and before like I stated it was loose feeling

Yea I believe u might be on to something maybe I set the car back to factory setting some how, and yes it was used but I didn't experience these problems for nearly 6 months and then over night they seem to be there. As for tire pressure I've already checked them and I check the alignment every was spot on seen the printout! I'm telling you some how some way when I reset it everything got better including the how the car rides and turns don't know why??? Still wonder what --00 meant

Mr.ac 06-01-2016 12:56 AM

Shitty tune. Yep.

ryoma 06-01-2016 02:01 AM

--00 means that you can only modify the first 2 digits, thus the --. it comes from the factory at --00 if it wasn't programmed. nothing wrong with it

Why are you letting the clutch out below 1000 rpm?

This ^

Our cars like to be in the higher RPM ranges in general. Letting clutch out below 1000rpm will feel like the engine is dying. Low RPM while going up hills will also make you think the engine is dying.

You can find the manual online very easily.

Other than that, --00 shouldn't affect anything unless its tied to some weird tune the previous owner put in the car as previously stated.

So setting the shift light indicator (it's not a rev limiter) fixed your suspension/wheel? Yeah, OK. Sure.

I love how online you never get the full story, only bits and pieces either of the before or the after.... Ah well, who gives a shit, it works now :iono:
