10 months old - battery dead this am. Auto off headlights?

Wanted to keep the title short. When I turn the ignition off in my 15 - the headlights stay on for quite a while before shutting off. Is there a work around for this? Or do I just use the blinker stalk to shut them off? Not an issue either way. I just wouldn't expect the battery to die since it came from the factory this way, although I am not even certain that was the culprit. Trunk lid was shut and glove box was as well and I can't think of anything else. Any input is appreciated.

Press the lock button twice to turn them off. Are you the same Large from TacomaWorld?

That I am .. thanks! I knew about the double tap but I wouldn't think Scion designed the headlights to kill the battery if I don't double tap it. I might just keep the blinker stalk on off instead of auto.

The dealer can reprogram them to turn off sooner. There are also a few apps that can be used to set the parameters but the only one I know the name of is Carista.

You can set it in TechStream to turn off immediately after turning the engine off.

Thanks for the replies! I have a service appointment soon and I will ask them to see what they can do.

Sometimes the plates inside the batteries warp. Shortening the life considerably. Could have a premature bad battery.

Is the battery drained or is it dead? If the lights were left on and the battery is just drained, charge it up and you're back in business. What is the battery doing? Are there any lights in the car, does the engine click when you turn it over or is the car just 100% dead (no noise or lights at all), or are the interior lights brown?

Don't forget the factory battery is pretty crappy.

Check the electrolyte level in the battery. Be ready to add distilled water if needed.

I didn't like the delay, first thing i did with the techstream was to turn off the delay. Lights turn off when my door opens.
