Hum/whine when decelerating

Symptoms I had before: A loud hum coming from drive train when decelerating (lift foot of accelerator).

28000km (17500 miles)
2012 model

Dealer carried out the following under extended warranty:

Gearbox:

Diff:

Repairs took 5 weeks. $1729 at current exchange rate.
Noise is gone after the repairs. Gearbox is much smoother, all the stiffness that we experience in low temp is gone. Gears feel very secure.

I currently hear a sound when approaching a red light and coming to a stop. Do you know what caused it that they replaced?

Between this and the crickets from the fuel pump. I almost should a went with something else.

one of those bearings in the gearbox was the cause.

Hi ya, Silver_Bullet ....... :)

The HPFP is what it is.

For your clutch/transmissions concerns, I suggest you take it in to the dealership for a look see.

Life is too short to drive a car you're not happy with.

Sorry for late reply. I had trouble logging in using taptalk. I took it to dealer. He said the sound is coming from up front not the rear end. At first they couldn't hear it but such crap. I was able to show a mechanic the sound during a test drive. It sounds like a grinding down either of the gears or maybe up by the tranny clutch.

make sure to downshift rev match all the way to first gear to drown out that sound

I may be "flywheel chatter". Apparently the flywheel on these cars is a dual mass flywheel (I just got schooled on that) and can make some noise, especially when it's winding down.
