2016 Scion Pioneer head unit Navigation

I have a 2016 FR-S Release Series 2.0. Come with the pioneer 7 inch touchscreen head unit. Looking at the cars that come with Nav and mine which for some reason did not.....the head units are the same. Is this just a software update that can be added to the head unit to add the Navigation features?

It's usually an additional module that is required for Toyota headunits to enable Nav features.

If you're interested in enabling the 2016 head units GPS this is what you need, as it will be cheaper than going and getting it installed at a dealer:

PT296-12160 Navigation module from eBay.
PT591-00140 Brackets from a Toyota parts seller.
(Both of the above can be bought from partznet.com for a decent price)

and One of these antennas:

Everything will be plug and play after that

So looking at what you are saying I am needing is a whole new head unit even though the one I have now looks exactly like the PT296-12160?

No that's not what I'm saying, the parts are a module, a bracket and a antenna that gets connected to your head unit.

Ok but when I type I that part number you have for the module, it shows a head unit and the cost is $750.00.

No it isn't a head unit that's just a stock photo.

Ok.....Damn 750....I'll have to hunt one down much cheaper then that. Might as well go after market for that price.

Yup, that's what tempts most people, the price is insane, and aftermarket ones just need a little rewiring in most cases and have easily update-able navigation maps
