Considering selling my BMW 335i to get FR-S... Good or Bad idea?
Here's my situation, I got an 07 335i Coupe two years ago and the extended warranty is going to be up soon. Im thinking about selling it and getting a black 6spd FR-S... Thoughts :iono:

Test drive it. It may feel very slow to you lol.
|
Why? Are you going to be doing some tracking in your FR-S, if not this seems like a downgrade to me.....
|
Yeah I'd have to agree with the statement above. bmw is a mix of luxury and performance, if you're not going to track it ever (even if its just once a month for a day at the track) then I wouldn't do it... I mean, you're talking baller BMW to a SCION.... leather heated seats and wood grain finish to plastic AC knobs and a "invader" style fake carbon fiber trim...
Test drive it with a young guy, tell him your a driver and going to drive it like you mean it... Get a good feel for the car around a few on ramps or twisty roads if you can, normal street driving is NOT going to make this car shine execpt for all the ppl giving you thumbs up because the cars shmexy as hell. edit: man you could just keep the bimmer, drop a vortech super charger in it, slam it low with some nice TSW wheels and call it a day... Don't follow the hype of the FR-S/BRZ go with what you truly enjoy driving. |
Let me ask you this... Do you already get laid?
If so, you're all good! :) |

I test drove one and yeh it was pretty low on torque but it reminded me of my old boxster with it's handling. I still haven't driven the stick and hope that makes a big difference. I'm 26 and had my fair share of fun cars, getting the fr-s is me being practical lol... The frs is brand new though and I'm at 90k on my BMW!

If you like the speed of your BMW you are not going to like the FRS. If you don't mind the slow then it gets good fuel economy handles well and looks good. Maintenance we have yet to see but hopefully is cheap to maintain. Have you had any problems with your 335, been maintaining it well?

If you like it, go for it. If you don't, o'well
|
Yeah FR-S would be a pretty big step down from a 335i. I was hoping to get a used 335i but they were just too expensive for a nice low miles one... if you've already got one no reason to go to the FR-S IMO.

Another way to look at it... 6 year old German car that will start to sap your $ I'm just coming out of an '04 Mini. After a blown tranny and a steering rack that was on its last legs. 8 years old and it was time to go. My 944 turbo was the same way... I knew this going in but that was just one of those cars I had to own. Don't even get me going about the 3 Audi's I owned. The '84 GTI and the '88 GLI I owned were awesome though. German cars are awesome but not cheap to maintain. I may have gotten them out of my system though :-). Ok, I doubt it. Damn I'm stupid. |
My car has been well maintained and had no issues even though 335s have gotten a bad rep... its a certified car so I have the factory warranty to 100k or Jan 2013. I just don't want to deal with a car with such high miles, also it's a pain to worry about where I'm going to park everyday because of all the dumbasses out there.
