Where do you go for spirited drives in DFW?

I can't find a good road anywhere

Driftz 05-19-2016 06:43 PM

Glen Rose area any good?

When I lived in the DFW Area (Richardson, Plano, Garland & Lewisville), many, many years ago, the only ones were near my parent's house at the time around the Firewheel Golf Park area. Back then most of those roads were small country roads with a lot of fun corners with some nice elevation changes. 17 year old me was lucky to see 18 the way I drove on those roads. However, a ton of new development has taken place over the years, and they're pretty non-existant now. I recall around '02 I followed some Miata friend's out for a late night drive & they took me down some farm roads which were probably somewhere near the Frisco area, it was pretty flat, but had a couple of nice curves. I'm sure those are all gone as well... The only good driving road I can think of now is MSR's track...

Sorry I wasn't any help, but the trip back down memory lane was pretty cool for me..

I live right by it. There's not anything that good most or just gradual turns with a little elevation.

My favorite place. Just north of McKinney. Roads under construction right by Hwy 75 but it's butter smooth after that. You should be safe under 60mhp most part.

Yep, I live north of McKinney - in the Melissa area. There are some fun roads up here just outside of 'suburbia'. Nothing like when I lived in California, but nice to be out in the middle of nowhere and still get some fun corners in.

The Ferrari club and others head up the Dallas N Tollway and stay north of Celina and Aubrey and south of Ray Roberts. It's mostly east west routes. I'll ask a friend for more details.

4th annual meet

Hey wise345 you going to the meet this year ?

Jonsey 07-07-2016 04:20 PM

Motorsport ranch in Cresson. You can drive as fast as you want in a safe environment and not worry about tickets or endangering others.

rubbercow 11-01-2016 02:43 PM

fang_gt86's route is pretty good.

I second Jonsey's statement that you should consider Motorsport Ranch if your intention is to drive dangerously.

If you're looking for a longer route, here is one that I've taken with the Ferrari and Porsche clubs previously. Note: I did not create this route and have not taken it in around three years.

Thank you for sharing! A friend and I will be driving this on Sunday.

Here's our last route. We began at Mckinney and doubled back. It took about 3.5-4.5 hours.
