Factory navigation into non factory navigation car

Gonna try to make this simple. I bought my wife an frs last night for her birthday. Here came with factory navigation. My frs has the base radio (no touch screen, bare minimum basic) she likes mine more and I'd like the navigation. Is this a simple plug and play swap? Or is it more involved than that? I've been sear home but can't find anything. Thank you !

I would imagine the harnesses may be different. Your car would lack the OEM antenna too (which would be hidden in the shark fin I believe).

To be honest, I'm guessing here. You may want to just pull out the radio and try. It's not difficult to remove the dash trim, and the radio is held in by 4 screws.

My real concern is the antenna. I was trying to figure out where the GPS antenna is and through my searches I cant find anything. Only info I can find is upgrading certain units to have GPS but not a straight swap. If all I have to do is buy an antenna for it that's simple, assuming the antenna isn't self contained in the unit (how awesome would that be). Guess I'm gonna have to deal with that look from the wife when I start taking apart the cars once she gets home from work.

Update for anyone else with the same question. It would appear that everything was the same with the exception of mine not having the antenna. I could have always tracked down the antenna in her car to see if it was the shark fin or a stand alone unit but I'd rather not take it that far apart. I'll post back with a link to the antenna once I find one that doesn't come from China...

Edit:: it would appear the GPS unit can detect that I'm moving, however it has no idea where the hell I am. Kinda humorous because while I'm driving down the interstate the GPS thinks I'm hauling ass through a field.

Typically in the OEM Radio, the antenna will either have its own plug at the back of the head unit, which leads to the antenna mounted on the roof (2014 and before they would be at the base of the Antenna, 2015+ would have it built into the Sharkfin). For the twins with the Pioneer Head unit, those are usually magnetic, and are actually just stuck to the top of the head unit under the dash.

I wouldn't worry about antenna. It's an "industry standard" and any aftermarket $15+ gps antenna will work. Swap most likely is plug and play, other than not having a gps antenna (again no biggie).
