Best mod under $500?

Hello fellow Gt86 drivers!
After coming to a realization that installing a turbo kit for the car is going to cost me well over 5k CAD, I decided to keep saving the money and go for cheaper mods to the car.

Right now it has a catback exhaust and valenti tailights. I'm not looking for cosmetic mods like front splitters and etc. I think the car looks amazing as it is.

Reason for the $500 budget is that I dont want to be spending 2k+ for wheels, tires and coilovers. Just getting one of those is pointless but that is a plan for the future.

I am hoping for a noticeable change that comes with the modification, although I know that is asking a lot with just $500. But because I am satisfied with the way it looks right now, I am shooting for a minor performance upgrade.

I was thinking lightweight crank pulleys. From what I've researched, lighter unsprung mass in the drivetrain is always good. Subtle yes, but good nonetheless. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Any ideas or modifications you guys are running that is noticieable the way how the vehicle handles/accelerations/revs/anything really?

I proudly own a '15 FRS with AT Transmission. I would appreciate any comments :)

You have an AT and pulleys are hit and miss and do nothing, get an OFT and run a tune and E85 if you can get access to it

LED reverse bulbs.

OFT tablet + tune is over the $500 mark I believe. But if there is a reasonable change in performance it is definitely considerable

Hmm. That is definately something I need to get on with. The sad fact is that the nearest track in my area is well over 100km.

OFT will be my first choice. If not, then Drop In High Performance Air Filter, diff flush with Motul Gear 300, and Side Markers.

- RCE Yellows - slightly lower, better handling than OEM.
- SPC front camber bolts - more camber = better handling!
- Whiteline diff outrigger bushings - keeps the diff from flopping around during abrupt throttle changes or when shifting.
- Transmission mount insert - keeps the transmission from flopping around. No idea if it fits AT.
- Alignment - more camber = better handling. With the springs and camber bolts, you should be able to get around -1.7 in the front and -1.5 to -2 in the back.

All of this should come out to about $500.

Would you say the difference is significant with a tune? Would the damn torque dip be flattened out? I'm not so keen on a tune for a NA 2l motor tbh, unless it really changes how the car drives in daily use.

Don't let that stop you! :P

Traveled this far last year for auto-x. Going again later this summer a few times (hopefully).

Honestly I have no idea what you suggested, but few words like 'better handling' I recognize. Will do my research. Thanks!

Wow that is respectable, I have no excuse now. Thank you. Definately will look into it!
