Salvage title is going to put a huge damper on things. Most people won't buy a salvage title because it's difficult to insure.

Really? Is that true? Didn't know that.

To the OP, 9k-11k sounds about right.

The problem won't be so much that its difficult to insure. The problem will be there are many of these cars out there with similar miles and mods that don't have a salvage title that will make it a tough sell even at that price point. I think the price your looking at is on point though.

nickmerronesucks 05-18-2016 09:40 AM

Guys its not a salvage. Its rebuilt. which is much easier to deal with. And it just means it has newer parts. I say put it up for your asking price and someone will get a deal on a discounted car.

Most cars are bound to be in an accident anyhow. why not save the money and get one that has already been tainted.

It says right in the OP it has a salvage title....This does not go away when it is rebuilt. Once it is given a salvage title that does not go away ever.

Well the OP is a breath of fresh air in realizing the value of his vehicle. The 9 to 11K should be right on the mark for a rebuilt salvage in just about any market.

I'm pretty sure a salvage car can be rebuilt. And will be branded as R. I had a salvage M3 that went through the process and the title was branded Reconstructed.

Things must work differently in PA then because I've never heard of that here in MN.

Agreed I was going to say 10k

There was a salvaged firestorm frs by me that sold for 11k recently. It had 13,000 miles on the clock.

The thing too is that the people that want to finance cannot finance a salvaged titled car through their banks.

Think you will find that this will vary from state to state. Don't believe they all have the same system.

Many places do not differentiate between salvage and rebuilt, crashed is crashed for all the things that matter in this case: insurance, financing, and resale.

vh_supra26 05-18-2016 05:09 PM

Here in Texas rebuilt and salvage are pretty much the same thing. You get a wreck car from the auto action with a salvage title. Than you repair it and they give you a "rebuilt" title. It doesn't really matter either way because it isn't a clean title.

No issues getting insurance here, but depending on which state you live in you may or may not be able to get full coverage on a rebuilt/salvage car.

darthpnoy1984 05-18-2016 05:11 PM

Salvage cars will always have lower resale value but if you have full documentation of how the car was repaired, full receipts of the car parts purchased it will at least give some assurances to the potential buyer. Also for folks saying it's difficult to insure, it's more into the financing aspects that buyers will have difficulty with.

Buying a salvage car is all about diligent research and full documentation of nature of the accident, parts replaced, yes the resale is going to be lower but the savings is huge and sense of pride of restoring a car back in condition.

What this guy said. You'll be able to sell the car if you have everything this guy mentioned. I wouldn't stress too much over it. I've had a rebuilt vehicle and sold it within a week. And actually.... I might know someone who will purchase it at this price.. I'll get back to you tomorrow. At work right now.

Hi! So long story short a year ago I bought a Firestorm Red FRS w/ TRD package, it had a salvage title but was rebuilt, and I had Toyota inspect the car before making the purchase the inspection came out perfect. I had the intention to Rocket Bunny the car, but I lost interest over time & truthfully enjoyed the car stock. I love the car it now has 43,000 miles on it & it's been amazing. I have a records of maintenance. The only thing I have done to the car was install ST Coilovers & switched the TRD exhaust for the Invidia N1 which sounds amazing. All work was professionally done. I am now at a point where my career is taking a change and I'm now in the real estate field, due to my work I have to get something bigger and I was thinking of selling the FRS and using the money for a down payment of a MBenz GLK350, What price range would you guys think I could get out of the FRS? Automatic w/ paddle shifters, it's in good condition, Interior is fully intact with the upgraded premium pioneer system by scion, all records and pre inspection, title on hand. I was thinking around 9,000-11,000? Thank you guys, I appreciate your response. Just realized I misspelled Advice*

Do you have pictures of it prior to it being rebuilt? I know someone interested in an FRS. Just PM me any information you feel is pertinent and I might be able to get this off your hands.
