Morimoto HID Retro Kit V.S Elite Kit
As far as I can tell the difference between these kits is the Projectors and the ability to use them with a high beam setting ?
http://www.fteightysix.com/new-produ...elite-hid-kit/ or the new Retro Kit http://www.fteightysix.com/products/...scion-frs.html Waste of money to do the cheaper kit and not get the projectors? Last bit of lighting mods I have to do to the front end and want some input on what the forums think. |

You should contact @fteightysix. But my knowledge is this the first kit is the full retrofit d2s projector kit, it essentially turns your headlights into an OEM hid setup and requires baking them open to install the new d2s projectors which use an easy to find d2s bulb which is a proper OEM hid system with perfect cutoff and 0 glare to oncoming traffic when aimed properly. It's more invasive but the results pay for themselves. It also may require slight rewire in the projector or it could be a simple bake open and screw right in affair The second one is just an hid kit that you can choose the bulb type to install into the OEM halogen projectors which may have a horrible cutoff and glare even when aimed correctly, I have yet to see this has a massive issue on the FRS. Both have high beam and low beam usage retained |
The full retrofit will give you a double high beam: high beam from your normal high beam bulb, PLUS the high beam from the HID projector.
Please don't do the simple kit, do it right and retrofit or get the OEM HID assemblies. |

First one looks like just an HID Kit. Though it's not a cheap chinese kit that most people use around $40-$50 they're more towards the high quality ones like Phillips. The second one comes with Morimoto projectors, you'll need to open up your headlights to mount them in there. I'm a cheap type of guy, always going with chinese parts and whatnot. I'd say go with the second one with the projectors and do it right. The stock projectors are for halogen bulbs so they won't give you a clear crisp cut off line. I even put on Spec-D Headlights and switched over to a D2S HID Bulb and the light output still sucks. I plan on opening them up to put in real HID projectors (Morimoto) soon. I mean, it's your car and you can put in HID in there. It won't be as bad as those cars with just a reflector inside and no projector which would scatter the light output and blind everyone but you won't really be happy with the results. |
Sold on the Projectors thanks all
