Subaru Is Building the STI Wagon You Want? But Only for Japan

Lol, if its based on the Levorg S Concept, it can stay in Japan. Prius V with a hood scoop anyone?

UGLY.

From Road & Track
http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars...org-sti-wagon/

"The current Subaru WRX STI is a fantastic car, with one huge caveat: You can't have it as a wagon. Even though you can get the base-model Impreza as a five-door, and previous STIs were offered as wagons, the current WRX and WRX STI only come in a four-door sedan body style. That's about to change—but only if you live in Japan.

In a teaser video published last month and first picked up by Carscoops on Thursday, Subaru announced that it would put an STI version of its Levorg Wagon into production for the Japanese market. Levorg is Subaru's name for the Impreza wagon it sells in Japan and Europe. The Levorg STI is said to be based on the Levorg S Concept (pictured above), which made its debut at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January 2015.

According to Motor1, the Levorg S Concept has the WRX's 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder boxer connected to a six-speed manual, and lots of carbon fiber trim pieces. Wheels are by BBS, as you'd expect with an STI product, and the tires are Michelin Pilot Super Sports. Specs for the production car have yet to be confirmed, but we're very hopeful it will end up with the STI's 2.5-liter turbo four.

While U.S. Subaru enthusiasts will (justifiably) be upset over the continued lack of a new STI long-roof in the U.S., there's still hope for the future. Subaru revealed the next-generation Impreza at the New York Auto Show last month, which means a new WRX and WRX STI are probably just a few years away. Let's hope Subaru will gift us the mega-wagon we need and deserve."

I would buy this in a heartbeat. Why are there no good wagons offered in the states? Screw SUVs and CUVs

I wouldn't mind seeing an STi wagon again, but that is admittedly bland. I wonder how that would look if the STi front fenders were instead substituted into the concept.

LS9 Wagon?
LS9 Wagon.

Probably going to pinch my pennies and hunt for a CTS-V or AMG wagon as a 'responsible' car for when I have a family and they start hitting really low on the depreciation scale (relatively speaking). Or maybe build a hot-rod old Merc wagon if I find myself with an abundance of time (lol)

Edit: As for the Levorg, meh. I have zero faith they'll get decent handling dynamics out of it, power (300-ish I assume, maybe 320-340) won't be worth the premium given how much the chassis weighs (>3,400 lbs).

Prius + hood scoop, seconded.

I still think the Focus RS looks sweet...it *should be here soon*

Also, kinda sorta related...

I wish Dodge would redo the Magnum and make an SRT 492 or even an SRT Hellcat/

Going snowboarding with this thing in Colorado, I'd be first chair on every powder day and could bring my friends and all their shit along np. :party0030:

I had an 05 WRX wagon, which, just like any subaru, had questionable looks to begin with. This is no exception.

If it drives like an STI, I'd buy it in a heart beat.

I'm with you on this one. I was seriously considering the Cadillac wagon when I bought the FR-S. Now that they don't have them in the line-up any longer I kinda wish I had bought one. Good news is that they will be just that more affordable, although it may be very hard to find the MT which is what I wanted.

This in Red, thank you, but if not I'll take the blue!

It will be interesting to see what happens with them, honestly I'd be surprised if you could EVER pick up an MT CTS-V wagon in good condition for less than $20k. Unique GM cars built in the past ~15 years or so have really held their value and gained cult followings, the GTO, G8, and Chevy SS are worth much more than you'd expect for 5 and 10 year old GM coupes and sedans, with the exception of the Pontiac Solstice/Saturn Sky, those tanked.

Would be a good winter beater!

I've actually started shopping around for one but had a lot of trouble finding one in my area, nothing but CTSs and CTS-V wagon "clones". Granted, I live in the land of crossovers/prius/volvo station wagons, so its no surprise. In the end, I decided to just plop down a deposit for the Focus RS, which god know when it will come out.

^This. I came in thinking I'd get bargains but nope, all of them were still holding their values so well I decided I might as well buy new.

Did a quick Autotrader search and there is only one listed in the Atlanta area, and its black, with an AT.

Stretching it out I did find 5 or 6 for sale within 500 miles, and low and behold a 2012 red one with a MT with 65,000 in Maryland for $45,000.

Ugh, CVT. You can't hardly buy a car anymore without that. Eff that subaru, a forester XT is available right now, arguably looks better, and has quite a bit more function if you absolutely need a hatch.

CTS-V wagons are awesome. They are kind of rare to get ahold of though, and you have to be willing to pay.

rice_classic 06-02-2016 01:13 PM

But I've already got an overweight, awd wagon with 300+hp that can hold 7 and gets 15mpg..

Except mine has double wishbone suspension and can tow 8500lbs. :)

3 with manual transmission in the US on Cargurus. 2 in the Seattle area that are highly priced and one in California for 45k.
