Plastic dip painted wheels
Question: I have a set of red wheels (rotas) and I am considering plastic dip them black for a change..would they be ruined when I try to remove the plastic dip?
|
I understand that the plastic just peels off.
However, I watched my neighbor kid mess up (didn't prepare the wheel proper) an application and it seemed to take him a loooong time to peel it off. humfrz |
Plastic dip peels off easist if you put on at least three coats.which isn't that hard to do if you buy three cans.
Also make sure you mask off the tires, since it's hard to remove overspray betweeb the raised tire lettering. Plasti dip is a lot of fun, so don't stress it since there's very little chance you'll mess up your rims. Worst case, you'll have to peel and start over again. |
Is this what is called forum filler?

So can this guy (if he wanted to), just peel this off?

This guy as well, but hasn't, since the last time I saw it the tails were still dipped a nice solid black. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attac...1&d=1463502618 |
Off topic: why dip tail lights, won't that make it opaque and no one will see when you are braking?
On topic: Plastidip is ok for wheels. But once it starts peeling (and it will with regular washing, normal wear and tear from small debris on the road etc.) it really starts to look like ass unless you constantly touch it up; but then it looks blotchy. Just be aware that it may happen. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
