What power/torque can the OEM box handle?
 

As per the title really, just wondering if anyone knows the limitations to the OEM manual gearbox?

I remember reading about 280Nm. Don't know where exactly. Probably in the transmission carnage thread.

That's the auto trans surely? I know the manual can handle more than that

~205 ft lb of torque at the flywheel for the 6MT sounds about right to me. I know of guys who were making 205 ft lb at the wheels blew their transmission at the tail end of a season of track days. They'd be making a bit more at the flywheel but I suspect it wouldn't be more than say 230.

Yes it was a track car so it was a worst case scenario for the transmission but the rated power output assumes that.

It's also my understanding that the auto handles big power better than the manual does.

How long are you looking for it to last? thats the real question. It really comes down to how you use it.
