Do you run a more narrow width on the fronts?
|
Same 195's all around. The front wheels have a spacer to clear the tie rod; it's not ideal so I'm looking at a way to get clearance so I can bolt it directly to the hub.

Hey guys, I've got a 1" lift by Subtle Solutions and still on stock wheels/tires.
Car is a mainly a daily driver, with so far only one track day (but plan to do more). Lifted mainly because Montreal streets are awful and I kept scraping at stock height. I don't care for perfect fitment or reducing the wheel gap - it's just not functional to have perfect fitment in Montreal. Looking for wheel/tire suggestions. So far, I'm deciding between silver RPF-1 +35, TSW Nurburgrings (bronze or gunmetal?) +35, or Konig Dekagrams +40. All in 17x8. I was thinking about getting 235/40 or 235/45 tires to go with them. Thoughts? |

I avoid it with my BRZ stock drop & wheels (I scrape with my stock GD3)! Managed to flatten some 15” steelies & warp mags on previous vehicles and sometimes doing unwanted stunts that should have required a pilot’s licence… you don’t always have the option to avoid the craters. If you to do some track I would advise a second Wheel set just for that with the Tire /Wheel combo you want/need/afford. Bigger wheel & tire size is more weight a disadvantage on a track but nice to look at… I will let the track rats advise you for best tire size for track use. If you use your vehicle as a daily there I would recommend the meatiest sidewall if you want to keep your wheels a few years. Nice action pick at Sanair, Is that place still open it was bad back in the 90’s? |

Having a dedicated set of track tires would be ideal, but since I've only ever gone to the track once and only have the intention of going for more (with no concrete plans yet), I'd be afraid I'm not getting my money's worth out of them. I've been on the stock wheels for about 4 years now in Montreal with no real issues. They still somehow look great after barrelling through all the craters I've been unable to avoid. I have a second set of wheels already for winters and they've been holding up pretty well. They're the same size/tire setup as stock. Sanair is alright - it's a layout that takes you through different driving surfaces, it's bumpy, and there's a sketchy point where you turn into the drag strip and need to avoid a concrete barrier in the middle while coming out of the turn that separates the two lanes of the drag strip. It was great to learn at for my first track day for sure. However I'd like to try doing a more traditional track like at iCar Mirabel or Calabogie out near Ottawa. But you get what you pay for - Sanair is cheap and you just go and figure it out for yourself whereas at iCar and Calabogie it seems they force the lessons and instructors on you and make you do it properly. At a premium price at that. Sanair track days are at about $100 for a full day. I managed to get a more experienced guy in my car for my first session and he showed me where to look and when to start turning/accelerating. The track also had some markers painted on the road to show the optimal line through the turns as well. |

Been searching for a while for a unicorn tire: a small 15" all-terrain.
Finally got hold of the Maxxis Bravo AT-771 205/65r15 If you can find 'em they fit... but there's a touch of rub at full lock. Lift springs & lightbar coming shortly |

Installed an ADF 1" lift on my BRZ this weekend, hopefully will be able to get an alignment done in the next week or so to help work out whether or not I can pair it with the RCE lift springs and not end up with positive camber in the rear with the OEM lca's. Also thinking about maybe swapping out my Blizzaks for some Nokian WRG4 all weather tires for year round use, would be interested to know if anyone on here has experience running that sort of tire on dirt and gravel.
Anyways, on to some pics: First two with stock wheels and 225/45R17 Michelin PSS's https://i.imgur.com/BtDQ9gn.jpg https://i.imgur.com/dCnuP2f.jpg Last two with 16" Sparco Terra's and 205/55R16 Blizzaks https://i.imgur.com/DJQyAM4.jpg https://i.imgur.com/M6BYmzF.jpg |
So glad I found this thread!
I just found these coilovers and was wondering if anyone here knew anything about them? https://yellowspeedracingusa.com/pro...31308373131375 |

Great thread...love gravel.
Built this girl for dirt, rough backroads...and more dirt. So. Much. Fun. |

Anyone know if the diamond racing wheels in 15" clear our stock brakes?https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f12138ca88.jpg

I don't know, man. I'll ask my cousin Joe, he's a mechanic. He would know more about this than I do.

Try playing with this tool. Edit: Nvm, it doesn't have the caliper modeled. |
Bump.
Our RCE Rally lift springs are coming very soon and I just sold my old winter wheels/tires. Getting ready to pull the trigger on my Enkei RC-G5 rally wheels. Either: 15x6.5 with 195/65/15 or 15x7 with 205/65/15. Both +35 offset. Better gearing and possibly better performance on dirt with the 195s. Little bit of extra height with the 205s (but possible rub?). I was planning on 195s for gravel tires but this set at least will be winters. Maybe another set in the future for dedicated gravel tires. https://cdn.snsimg.carview.co.jp/min...t=c193c1d96166 I'll decide soon! - Andrew |

I found these Yokohama Geolandar A/T 205 70 15 and thought they would be a good all-round non snow tire to run on the street. https://m.tirerack.com/tires/tires.j...tnum=07HR5G015 Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk |

I was hoping to avoid something extra tall and unfortunately all the A/T tires are taller than I'd like. Might still be good fun on the street though. - Andrew |

Went on a lil cruise before all the colour is gone

Enkei RC-G5 wheels are on the car. With the tight caliper and tie rod clearance, I recommend having a conversation with your tire guy prior to mounting. We put the wheels on the car first so they could see where wheel weights will and will not work. I'll take some pictures next time the car is up in the air.
I did get the ~$60 Enkei aluminum hubcentric rings. Will probably get some cheap center caps for street driving. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...f51f235f_b.jpg Barely driven on them so far...nothing really to report outside the obvious that it's very different than 225/45/17 summer tires. My car is very dirty...need the wheels to get equally dirty so they match. :) Still funny to be driving on 15's. The 15x7 with 205/65/15s would definitely be "beefier" but I think this set up (15x6.5 with 195/65/15) will be better for rallyx and arguably better in the snow. Would probably do the 205s and 15x7 for backroads fun and stuff. - Andrew |

Just as another data point, I test fit my 215/60r16 wheels on my currently lowered setup in prep for when I can finally put my lifted set up on and there was zero rubbing.
I saw earlier in the thread that some one fitted 215/65r16s, did they rub? |

Super hot day... ending up mega dusty.
But awesome fun. The old girl still feels as tight as a drum. |
OZ Rally Racing 18x8" 5x100 ET45
I haven't seen any BRZ/GT86 with these wheels. They come in white and graphite and 17x7-ET45 and 18x8-ET45.
I would think that they would be a perfect connection to Subaru Impreza rally cars. Any opinions? https://www.driftshop.com/media/cata...8f4205ab85.jpg https://www.driftshop.com/media/cata...7f183cf876.jpg |

Finally received the last of my parts from Toyota and was able to install my TRD Rally suspension and 1" strut spacers. I am very happy with how it turned out. On the road it feels great, soaks up bumps like a champ and corners far better than I expected. The larger 215/60R16 tyres do take the edge off the acceleration though. Long term I may try find one of the newer 4.3:1 diffs to bring it back in line with how it used to feel.
Also a photo of how it was before. |

Latest rally day, awesome fun.

I've only had my 2 inch lift and 215/65/16 Grabbers for a few weeks now.

I don't deserve to be next to all of your amazing safari Twins, but here's my winter rally stage. 2002 WRX rims bolt right up and even have the same tire size (edit: 205/55R16). Rally Armor mudflaps make every drive a party. Might try more sidewall for my next set of Blizzaks.
|
This is my second winter with my subie steelies wrapped around 205/55r16 WS90s. Got rallyarmour mudflaps that I put vinyl wrap on for funsies. Spring-summer the car is gonna have a livery. Already got 16" white rally wheels and an ADF 1" spacer.
Just looking to get it wrapped in either 205/60 or 215/60. And, well, looking at everyone else's I love the look of the 215/60. Gotta see what the used tire shops have for A/T! https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/ed...-no?authuser=0 https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/8F...-no?authuser=0 |
I love the position of those lights @beanswv17!
Could you snap a couple pics of the mounting bracket you used? Did you attach the bracket to the impact bar, the bumper cover, or somewhere else? |
