Hot Lava

... I'll try not to offend Hot Lava owners, but I really do not understand Scion/Toyotas logic here.

Orange exterior (looks great until you pop the hood and open the door)
Brown engine bay (down the road it's going to look like the car has been repainted)
Red accented interior (you have a metallic orange color clashing with a flat red accented interior?) Why not just do it solid black?

Someone from Lotus must have been involved as it feels like 1976 all over again.

Unfortunately all of seats have the red. Luckily I got the Firestorm.

But I do agree, the Hot Lava would only make sense as a "special order". The three layered paint isn't going to work well when you are trying to match it for aftermarket accessories.

i saw one at the dealership today, i really didnt like it. i guess its one of those colours that you either love or hate.

it looked more brown than orange to me.

the one i saw also had the TRD kit, oh god how ugly it looked.

I agree about the red interior not going with the hot lava color. But, I've seen a BRZ/FR-S in every color except red (many of them parked beside my car to compare) and I'm still happy with my choice of color.

Was it cloudy out. It has a brighter orange color in direct sunlight but takes on a darker color in lower light situations.

it wasnt cloudy i guess, but it was in shade.

here in dubai the leather seats got orange on them not red, so the interior matches the exterior.

While I love love love the ultramarine color, it clashing with the red interior and gauges was one reason I was siding against it. That, and well I wanted my FR-S right that instant and once I saw firestorm I was smitten.

I think hot lava is one of the coolest colors there is.

The color is great... It's the lack of coordinating that i found annoying. They could have done something a little more that's all. It just looks incomplete or a custom paint job the way they released it.

Possibly the reason it was the only one not sold.

IMO, the lighter colors like Argento and Whiteout make the car lose it's lines and shape. I feel the darker colors bring out the personality and style of the car. With that being said, I will never own a black or very dark car again as they get way too hot in the summertime and every black car I have owned has been in an accident (can't be seen as easily?). My first choice was red but being that it wasn't available locally and immediately, I chose Hot Lava and have no regrets - I have grown to really like that color.

Actually the temp difference between dark and light colors are like 2-3 degrees . Only reason I didn't go with black is the one the dealer had was the test drive one and it had 200 miles, I wasn't going to buy that one . I wanted the red just because of the red interior , once I see the hot lava I fell in love , it was beautiful IMO and I've gotten a lot of compliments on the color alone

"Actually the temp difference between dark and light colors are like 2-3 degrees "

I respectfully disagree. Tomorrow, when it's about 100 degrees out, go to a parking lot and press your bare hand onto the roof or hood of a white car.
Then do the same on a black car.
After you get out of the burn ward of the hospital, report back your findings.

I could do without the red shoulder flash on the seats, but that is minor. The red sticking is not a problem, makes a nice accent. Thank you Toyota for not using Orange or Gold in stead! All the colors get a flat ugly base coat in the engine compartment, it is easily painted Semi-flat Black if you want to detail in there, so dunno. I like it.
:D

Why is there a new thread for this?
