any way to reduce or eliminate "idle creep"?
 

I've had little experience with automatic transmissions. Most of my cars have been manuals. I went with the AT FR-S and I like it, but I find the "idle creep" to be a little excessive. Is there any free or relatively inexpensive way to reduce or eliminate this effect?

It works, but only as long as the foot is firmly planted into the brake pedal. Let up and the car is lunging forward again.

Probably not. Every automatic car I've owned does that.

yup.. that's normal for automatic cars. the torque converters in the transmissions are constantly transferring torque to the wheels, even at a full stop. you just gotta hold the brake pedal down, or shift to neutral (& e-brake if you're on an incline).

This is actually funny to me since I mainly drive auto's. I was wondering what the hell you meant until I read the other posters post.

I remember, for instance, the literature for the 2001 automatic Vette boasted that some new pulley lowered idle speed and reduced or eliminated idle creep.

I think the most annoying part is the awkward tap dancing you have to do on the brake pedal when you're moving slowly in a long four-way stop line, for instance. It's also a little annoying to have to keep the pedal down at a long light. The grunching noise it makes at the transition between just enough pedal pressure to stop it and when it starts moving is irritating.

Just wasn't sure if there was a recognized adjustment. Seems not. Oh well.
