Which is more reliable?

Sorry if I did not read ahead, I just been so curious for an answer. I am stuck between a supercharger and a turbo.

Supercharger= HKS V3 or Kraftwerks
Turbo= Full blown turbo base kit or Greddys

Which will be more reliable and reasonable for a daily driver?

Thanks in advance!

Full blown or Greddy

In terms of a SC, HKS.

In terms of a TC, Greddy.

Out of those two? HKS supercharger. OR Cosworth :p

is the HKS V3 better than the jackson racing kit? why would someone choose the HKS V3 over JR?

Fullblown all the way.

Aslong as you clamp all the evap lines, install a catchcan and delete pcv, install cooler, upgrade your clutch and stick with the map FBM gives you.

I've had no issues really. Oil leak was caused by the factory pcv valve on the crank case not allowing enough presure to leave the crankcase case. Oil cooler was basicly a must. Evap lines just like to pop off when hot. Factory clutch will slip with any bigger turbo setup, SC not so much but hp is way lower. Unless running a higher boost pulley upgrade.

Regardless of what you pick. The choice isn't easy and none of them is just slapped on. You will need supporting mods to keep the car happy or you won't have it for long.

You kinda throw reliability out the window when you add forced induction to this car in stock form.

But,
SC wise I'd say: HKS since the KW has belt issues from what I've read over the years
TC wise I'd say: Greddy since its proven, but FB is also a great choice!

KW would be king if they had an auto tension pulley. But ya KW eats belts for lunch sadly.

save money in your budget for an engine rebuild and buy any kit you like best... that is the reliable route. there are too many weak points on the car that begin to fatigue wear and fail once boost is introduced. the heads and rods are the first thing to replace. make sure you get an oil cooler with any kit.

The two SC options you picked are the ones that seem to have the most issues. Why not consider JRSC or Edelbrock?

I have heard countless stories of the JRSC kit's supplied tune being complete garbage and it's needed to get a custom tune, and then once getting a custom tune there seems to be boost leaks due to the BPV.

Care to explain how a tune could cause a bypass valve to leak?

Out of all the kits they have sold, I have only heard of one instance where a bypass valve wasn't functioning properly, and even though it was a used kit, JR still took it back to replace it under warranty. The kit is perfectly reliable even with the CARB tune. The CARB tune just doesn't make as much power as a custom tune. No need to get it if you don't live in California.

@PMok care to touch up on the subject?

KW is reliable if you know how to adjust your belt properly... been running mine for 15-20k now with 0 issues.

That being said the JR kit is also very good (I've seen to many hks product failure in the last years to recommend them at this point)..

Turbo Full blown is great stuff

Have you actually experienced a JRSC with the supplied tune? It's seamless.

The stories originate from people who decide that they *DONT FOLLOW GUIDELINES* and run the CARB tune with aftermarket headers...
