Tracking the F's

So had a track day this weekend and got to take my F and FRS. Great time and it was day and night between the two cars. To be fair I have never driven a manual car on a road course so the rev matching needs to be something I work on. The F was 20 seconds faster then my FRS but I was running all season tires on the FRS.

Now dont think the FRS is a joke on the track I got passed in my F by an FRS on some race tires and stop tech brakes and he was Na. lol I guess only so much of the track can be straightaways. lol

I got point by's from a Cayman GT4 and a brand new ZO6 so cant complain to much.

I was like, wtf "F" is this thread about.

Now I see lol.

Glad you had fun! What were the lap times? 20's is a TON lol

Eitherway, sweet!

First pic i thought, "look, someone crashed"

Why are the point bys a big deal? Those cars are much faster, the drivers probably didn't want to push it on those laps or were cooling down.

I've been wanting to track my car (i've only had it a month), but the cost is high (pads, fluids, tires, tire wall damage, fire damage, etc.), so I've not been itching to go, just wanted to.

I know this is an old thread, but I just wanted to say:

I officially am itching to go to a track day. Watching those videos of you tracking your car, my adrenaline is pumping! I want to go tomorrow! Have to save up money for a helmet first I suppose! :)

One thing, if the OP still looks at this board/thread (or if anyone else knows). How did a forward facing camera get all that HUD type stuff on there? It even knew which straights and things he was on. I have got to get that setup if I ever make tracking "a thing."

Thanks for the show!

Harry's lap timer app integrates gps data collected by your phone to give you that type of HUD, it's a great app for doing 60% of teammate for ~$15.00

Point bys are not a big deal. I assume OP was his first time on a track. So he was on beginner level. As per drivers meeting if your see your leading a conga line you have to let cars go by.
Now the other hand if you want to try new lines or get your head righ, it's better to let people pass so you don't have pressure from behind. Or just in case you screw up and don't want to get bumped in the rear.

Then again they could be completely 100% new on track and are super scared driving.

Indeed.

I drove a friend's GT4 at The Ridge last Saturday back to back with my JRSC BRZ, both on 80TW tires and the GT4 was WAY faster than my BRZ. The GT4 puts the power down coming out of corners in a way the 86's never will given the front weight bias. In the end, I still find the 86's the most fun track car I've driven :)

What if you equalized the rear grip?

I can prescribe some rear geometry changes to suit 400 crank hp better than the stock/stockish setup in the rear.

I've been to Pitt Race with Auto interests as well. They are a great group.
They're events are ran really well and they give you a bunch of track time!

This was at their events earlier this year at PITT. Turn 5 I believe, it's from one of their promotional videos

One of things that I have found out on this track is that the turn in to a corner should be late. These cars do a lot better tracking through the corners if you do that. It appears that you may be turning in too early. High HP cars work better at this track if you turn in similar to where you do, as I have been told.

I didn't realize this was from May. I was there the whole weekend. I remember the gt4. He got way faster at the end of that weekend.

We're you running in the intermediate run group?

I found a few more pictures from that weekend:

I drove up from Columbus with my friend and his C5 Z
