Custom Audio System
This is my Idea for my 86 haven't seen it done before
custom fiberglass subwoofer/speaker enclosures in rear seat side panels the enclosure would be raised up from the side panel has anyone done it before, and would it work, would be great to see pics of something like it done Subwoofers 10" wide 6"deep Speakers 4" wide http://i.imgur.com/1niibCE.jpg http://i.imgur.com/UbpJDHr.jpg |
I think you would have to do a custom fiberglass impression of the area behind it; then trim it and do some foam or padding.
Then you'd have to build the enclosure for the renders you've done and find some really solid mounting (partially bu using the custom impression for tight fight). But the trunk lends itself much better to this; and there are some really sweet installs. It's not my 'thing' anymore; but I've seen some sweetly done trunks that could beat this method. Some guys have hard wood floors in the trunk with subs. That said, this would be a lot of work and you'd need software to help with the enclosure calculations. It could be pretty sweet as a show car; but not worth it on a DD. |
Pretty much the same thought I had.
Yes it could be done, some have already done it. Your Google-fu is weak, but just takes a bit of work, but not hard. However 10" subs would be too big. I would go with either 8" or 6" subs. I wouldn't bother keeping the 4" full range speakers. Then only issues I see is panel rattles. But there's always a fix for that. Enclosure size is pretty simple, no need for fancy software, just good ol' math. The way I figured out the internal volume on my custom set ups was to fill it with water. Measure it, do the math, go from there. Simple, just add a garbage bag so you don't ruin the enclosure. |

Well not quite a 10 inch sub, these are some damn beastly 6.5 components! RE XXX's are the best all around 6.5 I have ever owned. I also have a pair up front, custom fab'd 4 inch dash mounts, and dual 10 inch subs. I will post pics of my whole build once I finish, I just have a few more details to fabricate and some equipment to purchase. It's a pretty insane sound system, the loudest and cleanest I have ever experienced, and I have been installing car stereos since the 90's. http://www.mobilesoundworks.com/v/vs....5-Comp-5T.jpg https://images.sonicelectronix.com/i...ain/xxx65c.jpg |
