Borla Muffler question

Can anyone tell me if this Borla Muffler has the right connections (i.e. input/output on one side and output on the other) for my BRZ?

Well, as long as you have to weld a flange on the inlet side, I reckon it would come close enough.

Then, where are you going with it .......??

If you're "building" a custom muffler system, it seems to me that $400 is an expensive starting point ......

I have no idea - I'm going by the advice of a car guy I work with who would be doing the mod. I have absolutely no clue about modding.
I was going the Invidia N1 route, but he steered me toward this.

Short answer: no.

Long answer: you're better off getting a pre-fabbed bolt-on exhaust if you have no idea what you are doing.

They are the same size. But for the money you can get better exhaust perfectly bolt on without custom work. Do you want an axleback or catback?

LWAA 05-06-2016 08:38 PM

Axleback I think. Bolt on would be perfect. Any suggestions for the sound I'm after?

Sounds very nice!

That's sounds great and the price isn't bad too. Thanks for the help!

I got the borla but it didn't come with a gasket. Before I remove the existing exhaust, can anyone tell me if the stock gasket is a metal one I can easily reuse or if I need to go buy a new one?

Grab a new one at a dealer.

Borla makes two axle back bolt on mufflers, I'd just get one of those, rather than try to fab the same thing.

This is the Scion option, which is euro legal:

The problem with custom exhaust is tip alignment can be very difficult to get perfect if you are picky. Mandrel bends either require lots of cutting/welding/labor and/or an expensive mandrel bender. $400 is cheap for custom mandrel bent exhaust. Your guy is probably offering crush bent. You are better off getting a pre-fabbed exhaust that is stainless, has gaskets, flanges, hangers, and fits good. Custom at $400 probably skimps on all those things except the muffler itself.

Greddy Axleback.

There no real need to do anything custom with so many options for bolt ons IMHO.

I believe the SP elite is has been discontinued as I tried finding where to buy it and couldn't awhile back, the clone of it is the topspeed pro 1 axleback

A friend and I put the Borla axleback on tonight. It didn't take long and sounds amazing!

I got it at an amazing price from ft86motorsports, way cheaper than anyone else.
