Circuit of the Americas 29 April 2016 - 3:00.78

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDf0bUg-bpQ"]Circuit of the Americas - 29 April 2016 3:00.78 in my Subaru BRZ - YouTube[/ame]

I'll post a few more videos later once I get time to upload and compile them. Of note: I got passed a total of 55 times in my run group, by my count. Mostly by the likes of GT3, GT4, Viper ACR, Z06, etc.

Description from the video:

Quote:

Ran a 3:00.78 for fast time of day.

Not making excuses about the performance of the car, just the reality that 1) this was my 3rd lap out on the all-season tires, and 2) the tires progressively got worse throughout the day as it simply could not hold heat for more than a lap or two, given that COTA is 3.4 miles long.

I had a ton of fun, all things considered, and am grateful for the opportunity.

In analyzing the video and speed, I estimate with my skill level that I can put the car around 2:50 or so. Straightline speeds won't be much different with better tires, but I'd make up some time by being faster in T2, T4-5(entry of esses), T15, and T16-19 (carousel under COTA Tower).

Thankful I drove the car home instead of flying home without a car... my left rear Hankook RS3 lost pressure suddenly in my first session and could have lost the car in a high speed sweeper if I was pushing the car.

A 2:50 is definitely doable. I was out there in Feburary and managed to get down to ~2:46 on Star Specs and an ACE header. My first weekend there and I am sure I was all over the place. There is definitely even more time to squeeze out of that lap. That straight is LOOOOOOOONG.
