Wheel Hub causing hum? Warranty covered?
 

I get a pretty loud hum when driving in a straight line that seems to be loudest around 40 mph. At the same time, my accel/brake pedal feels a slight vibration around 30-45 mph.

I'm starting to suspect, as I've read, that it's due to a bad or bad wheel bearings. If so, would I be covered under the 60k warranty or would that be something I'd get charged for?

Any other recommendations on what to check? I've hit a couple of nasty potholes on my drives. Tire pressures are good and all, just that loud hum and weird pedal vibration feel at those speeds.

If you lazily roll left and right, the sound of a toasted wheel bearing will come and go as the affected wheel is loaded and unloaded. Obviously, find a safe place to do this.

Unfortunately, it will do the same for scalloped tires. Inspect the tread for wear due to alignment issues to first eliminate that issue.

Also, keep in mind for bearings, noise is heat. If you truly suspect a bearing, get it replaced ASAP. Keep your trips short and slow until then.

As far as it being covered under warranty ..... I doubt it, but, you might give it a try.

As Utramaroon pointed out, it could be a bad wheel hub and/or bearing.

It could be a defective tire.

It could be a warped rotor.

It could be a lazy caliper.

Maybe it needs an alignment.

You get the drift ....... I'd suggest you run it by your dealer/auto shop and get it fixed (it won't fix itself).

I doubt you will be covered with warranty as you are not bone stock.
