ABS/TCS engadging prematurely
 

I am still having a problem with my ABS/TCS engaging prematurely. I have driving the car for 30K + miles and have a pretty good feel for its handling ability. I recently had the car in the shop and had the left rear shock replaced under warranty thinking that this was the problem. It still does the same thing. I have a appointment at the dealership to have a mechanic drive the car to experience what is happening. I am not sure if it is a wheel speed senor or some other component is not functioning properly and triggering it to engage. But even at slow speeds (40-50 mph), in a slight turn on good dry conditions the system engages and tries to correct. I KNOW something is not right! It changed over night and I cannot drive the car anything the way I had always been able to. PLEASE HELP.

who's "your shop" that you're referring to?

When was the last time you got an alignment and what were the specs? What's your wheel/tire specs?

So.... did you have this problem before or after the shock was replaced? Or how did it come about?

Can't really help you if we don't know when the problem happened.

Most likely alignment.

different rolling diameters on front\rear tyres will upset vsc system
if its been for an allignment and they re centred steering without zeroing the steering sensor it will upset the vsc system

usually a crook wheel speed sensor or if it was unplugged will trigger a cel code, but something like a damaged sensor ring may not, or if sensor is loose.

The dealership replaced the strut after I took it in complaining about the problem. I figured that was it, but it wasn't! I then put on a new set of rear tires (215/45R17) "Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500". The front tires probably have another 10k left on them (Go figure why the rears had more wear). I probably should have replaced all 4. So the different rolling diameters make sense but I had the problem before I mixed and matched up the stock tires and the new rear set. So it sounds like it must be a alignment problem. Is that what you think??
