Video: Just installed Invidia N1 + Catless Frontpipe

Just picked up a lightly-used Invidia N1 and catless front-pipe.

Did the install this saturday, which was fairly straight forward despite breaking a stud on the over-pipe. Apparently breaking the stainless studs like this happens fairly commonly. I was fortunate to be in my friends shop at the same time as their shop manager, who was well experienced with exhaust installs.

We cut the studs off with a torch, and then pounded the remaining stud pieces out with a pneumatic chisel to clear the flange holes. The front-pipe/over-pipe connection is now just nut & bolt so it should be easier to do future exhaust mods (new OP + UEL header). It sounds beastly!!!!

If i'm travelling at say 100km/h (60mph) and I have cruise on, it's actually very quiet. I can talk normally, and listen to music. If I take the gas off and decelerate below 3000km it's very droning. Level pedal, constant speed above 3000 is very nice. Acceleration into the higher revs sounds amaze balls!!

I love the setup so far as well, plan on going UEL Tomei headers and over pipe next accompanied with the oft. I have a video as well.

Cold starts can be ridiculous.

Gruppe-S UEL (same as tomei) and EcuTek tune happening on Saturday @ the Drift Office in Washington :) - i'll post a vid of the results and sound difference!

I too have the Nvidia N1, but stock overpipe. I am also looking into getting the gruppe-s uel headers! I'll be eagerly waiting for your updates ;)

I can't even blame it on my phone's autocorrect, because it defaults to Invidia, lol.

I'd run a catted FP if you plan on catless headers, otherwise you get a nasty low rpm rasp that sounds terrible with the N1.

It's going to be loud and raspy. I found my nameless 5" muffler axle back and catted front pipe to be too loud after going with catless jdl uel. Had to switch back to OEM axle back.

It will be a lot more tame with a frontpipe that has a helmholtz resonator, MUCH less drone

Prepare for loud

ajcarson11 04-22-2016 01:50 PM

Prepare for VERY loud with a catless front pipe. If you at all dislike the drone now, then you're in for a surprise. It'll be intensely loud. Consider throwing stock frontpipe back on if going UEL catless.

Just a heads up from a guy with Gruppe-S, stock OP, stock FP, and a quiet-ish catback.

I have the same setup and I love it
