What happens to the production of the 1st gen. bumpers?

What does this mean for the supply of front bumpers in the 1st gen? Are they still going to have a good supply of OEM front bumpers?

Mfgr's usually continue to make replacement parts for a number of years.

What happens to any parts when the model changes or ends?
Toyota will order small numbers for as long as there is enough demand and then stop when it no longer makes business sense to do so. Some aftermarket place (read as China) will buy the molds and continue to make even smaller numbers for much larger dollars for as long as there is demand.
You can go out right now and buy almost any body panel you want for a 64 Mustang. They will cost you but people still make them.

This is correct, toyota especially is well known for this in fact up in till a few years ago brand new 2jz shortblocks were available and new parts for the older FJs. So I would expect you can easily buy bumpers, also theres alot of crashed FR-S it should be easy to get them...

I just ordered parts for my 22 year old Skyline the other day. I'm reasonably certain you will be able to get OEM bumpers for your 3 year old car for many years to come.

Agree especially if the later owners crash them and people buy the crashed ones from salvage auctions China/Taiwan aftermarket will fill in the demand.

It can very strange where the original dies/molds/forming equipment can wind up as the after market takes over. The more popular or in demand the parts are the bigger the aftermarket manufacturers are that buy it but even relatively small volume items can still be made someplace.
In 1995 I needed to get a windshield for my 58 Ford 300. Now since this is not exactly a popular old car I figured it would be either a used part or a very costly new original stock one. It only took a couple of phone calls (it was 1995 ) and bingo I found a place that would make and ship a brand new one in about 3 weeks. When I asked where they were made (fully expecting the US) they said they were made in South Africa! The fact that a brand new windshield could be made and shipped halfway across the world for about 60% of the cost of a NOS one just blew me away.

Given how popular our twins are worldwide, I don't think we have anything to fear when it comes to parts availability.
