You are right instead of being lazy I ended up just getting a Ctek charger and busted out my old Fluke 77 multimeter. Couldn't be happier.

The inevitable has happened, I managed to kill my battery, just 4500 miles under its terminals! Subaru has exchanged it under warranty. The replacement is a Varta sealed unit.. I have also invested in a quick terminal release widget as I don't use the car much, planning to disconnect the battery in such cases.

Update, left my car for 5 weeks, no battery tender and was expecting a dead battery! Not only the car remotely unlocked it also started!!

UK may very well have a different battery.

I can't remember the make of the original battery. Varta is my Subaru warranty replacement.

Were you staying on top of electrolyte levels?

Sealed

Mine is fine so far as well.

I failed to specify that I was asking about OP's original battery.

I finally had to replace my battery. Keeping up with the distilled water wasn't working too well, so I used Gatorade because it has electrolytes.

Just kidding. Two years in excessive heat will kill any battery. My new battery has a three year full replacement warranty, which means two years from now when this one shits the bed I can get a new one for free.

Yes, the battery levels were good however I wasn't driving the car enough therefore the battery was always low on the charge front.
