How many accessories can you safely connect?

Hi guys,

I currently have 3 gauges tapped into the radio harness and now that I have added a few goodies to my engine I'm looking to run another 3.

Now these gauges can power each other, so I can plug them into each other instead of tapping each of them into a power source.

I'm wondering if it's safe to have them all running off the battery harness' power. Are there any dangers I should be worried about since I'm pulling more power from this single wire in the battery harness to power 6 gauges?

Thanks
Mike

What amperage are they pulling? Doubt it is much but that is the number you need to know.

Thanks for the reply!

From the manual it looks like the following for each gauge:

120mA to power
120mA to ignition
2mA to illumination

Thanks!

Attachment 135398

So about .25 amps per gauge for a grand total of 1.5 for all. Don't know what the HU pulls but would think you have loads of leeway there.

Noob question I've been wondering, sorry, this seems a good place.

Would adding a rear camera and dashcam to a stock MY2013 Limited head unit be a problem with a lightweight battery?

If you're worried about powering multiple items you can always run a SPDT relay which would let you power plenty of devices without overloading the head unit.

No. They don't exactly suck back the power for the few seconds that you spend backing up.
