Hood Latch Dilemma

Hello everyone.

So I took the day off work so I could tinker with my car a little bit. However, as I went to pull the hood latch I noticed that there was no tension on the cable and the hood would not pop. The cable no longer retracts either. This leads me to think the cable either broke somehow or it became detached from the hood latch itself.

Either way, I need some assistance opening my hood without destroying my car. Any suggestions?

Likely will have to get it up in the air and try and reach up from the bottom.

I've got nothing... good luck. Jason's idea seems best

Thanks everyone. The latch can be accessed most easily by removing passenger side front wheel and inner fender(usdm). Dilemma over!

I used my skinny ass arms and a flathead screwdriver.

Don't try to pry anything. Use the flathead to push the driver side of the mechanism away from you. It will take some patience but you will hit the sweet spot eventually and it will pop open.

Damn your arms are long. i cant even reach the latch with mine
