Places to top speed the car?
Hi guys, first post kinda thing. But are there any places near so Cal that is available to test top speed? Like an abandoned run way or some place in the desert with paved roads? Def don't wanna try on freeway. And yes, I know 86's are slow and not meant for that kinda thing. Thanks

I doubt there is a place where you can do it legally and with enough road in socal. I would also advise against it since you aren't really gaining anything from doing it on anything other than a closed course and with all the safety precautions in place.
your best bet would probably be at a drag strip, but I don't think you'll be hitting top speed in a quarter mile. |

@ryoma yeah i get your point. there really is no point but to just try it out, and yeah im asking if there's either a closed course or semi-legal place in the desert for stuff like this. and yeah doubt drag strips would get top.
@toysub thanks for the link. personally ive only hit like 109 on a freeway, but id like to see how long itd take to hit 120-130, if thats even possible with this car. |

Look for a half-mile / mile shootout events that usually take place at old air strips. IIRC roughly $200 a driver to run.

This kind of hubris is how people get killed (including passengers, and those you haven't seen while going 130MPH on a public highway). Public roads: - Have cars (with people) broken down on the side of the road, no tail or headlights on. At night, they're practically invisible. - Have people on them where crossing the highway to get away from/to the above broken down vehicles. - Are not regularly inspected and closed for repairs (e.g. potholes, and truck ruts) making them dangerous for high speed runs. - Are not regularly cleared of debris that if hit or even swerved around can be catastrophic when going nearly double the speed limit. - Have all manner of animals crossing them that can also act as the above mentioned debris. If you think you can reliably make an emergency maneuver around any of the above at 130MPH at night on a public road and keep control of the car, you're kidding yourself. You really think that just because you can't see a taillight on a desert road that traveling that fast is safe? Cars are crash tested to roughly 65MPH and will possibly save your life at that speed. Anything about 80 and it's a crap shoot. Anything above 100 and it's guaranteed game-over for yourself and anyone that you didn't see involved in the inevitable accident you will cause. Keep that kind of driving on the track. There are private roads that you can pay for to do it. |
top speed one of these cars? We probably need 5 airstrips put together.

@DAEMANO
You are speaking words out of my mouth. That is the very reasons why I want a closed and controlled/private area to do it in. And I do understand it takes like 5 minutes from 80 to 110 already, so top speeding this car is like nigh impossible. Just a curiosity and a long shot kinda thing |
