Badge Removal

Like a clean ride with no badges?
Just don't like the Scion badge? Here's some comments on de-badging your ride. BIGGEST BUMMER. There are holes in the body for badge alignment / locating pins. These holes suck. I plan to take it to a body shop to get them filled in. I don't expect it to be cheap... Step 0 Disclaimer: Its not like a walk in the park to pull them off. The adhesive is strong. It takes care and patience. I'm not responsible if you ruin your paint. Besides, you'll need to take it to a body shop to get the holes filled in anyway. I have no idea how much of a headache it will be to have those holes filled in at this time. User beware. Step 1 Badge Pry Up: DONT use sharp objects. You'll scratch the paint. Use a thin plastic object to pry up the badge initially and carefully work around the badge sides until you can pry it off. Use slow even force all around and don't force it from one side. Step 2 Adhesive Rub Off: The adhesive is tough to get off, but it will come off. Just use a terry cloth and rub. The adhesive will stick to the cloth. Keep rotating the cloth to expose fresh cloth. (The picture shown shows the front, about half way through the adhesive rub off process) A little mineral spirits (or maybe gasoline?) may help, but be careful. It might ruin the paint. For me it worked fine though. Just rubbing with the cloth is enough though. (You don't need the mineral spirits). The picture without the adhesive is the back. |
nice write-up! it would have been easier if you heat up the emblems with a heatgun or a hair dryer
bumper doesn't look "clean" with out a badge imo why not replace them with T badges?? that curve in the bumper just looks weird without an emblem |
Anyone know what the appropriate Toyota part number is for the Toyota badges?

Rear ornament - SU003-03219 take note the you can't order these here in the US. only in japan! part numbers will show up on US epc but will not have the option to order it |
I might have some friends in Japan.
(Work colleagues for sure) Maybe I'll try to get a T Badge for the front. The back should look clean without it though (provided I can get the holes filled in). |
Should find a cheap way to cover those two hole so that I can remove my front badge for a clean look.
or somebody can make one? hah. @86_ZN6. Just 2 tiny pin. Is it possible? |
