Stock catback with just catless front pipe
Has anyone run the stock exhaust but just thrown a catless front pipe in? I'm in the market for a used ISR (formerly ISIS) performance street catback right now (I posted in the WTB section), but I was considering going with a catless frontpipe in the meantime if the sound is improved. (I'd be transitioning back to a highflow cat later when I change headers, so the catless frontpipe will be only temporary)

It's still going to be pretty quiet, I ran like this for a while. You get a bit more tone out of it. Though I might have a different stock cat back. Not sure if they changed the whole thing or just tips.

If you're planning on getting a catted front pipe later, then you might as well get one now. It would be pointless (and a waste of money) to get at catless just to change again. Also the sound wouldn't do much.

JUST THE TIP(S)!

Fujitsubo is identical to stock in terms of sound. Berk catted front pipe is louder than stock by 3db, even with the stock catback exhaust. Others will be somewhere in between... -alex |

I'd go with catalytic converter - LESS header. It'll get you more gain + better sound. I have Borla unequal header with Invidia Q300 cat-back. You can control the loudness to your favor. I love this setup.

Definitely not the borla though, Gruppe-S(Tomei white box) is much much better quality for cheaper. |

Yeah I totally intend to go for a header eventually, but I kinda have my heart set on the Nameless 4-2-1 header and don't really want to spend money on anything less. I'm going to wait until I start co-op'ing as an engineering student and then get a header and go flex-fuel at the same time. Basically I want to change something up for cheap right now because I just really feel the need to get under the car again.

I have the Nameless 4-2-1 EL header (it's not catted btw), and it is awesome! It also looks beautiful, too. :D
