Clutch grinding. Need service recommendation
Hey guys. My clutch has been grinding almost every time I go into 6 gear. Also get that burning clutch smell once in awhile (or it could just be my imagination). Looking to get it serviced and fixed under warranty.
Can anyone recommend a dealership? I'm located in Newport Beach. Right now I'm looking into South Coast Subaru in Costa Mesa and Irvine Subaru. I've had bad experiences before at the Kearny Mesa Subaru in San Diego where they put a dent on my car and told me it was there before I brought it in. So I want to make sure I find a place that isn't going to shit on me... So I don't mind driving a bit further for the right place. Thanks in advance!! |
Personally,
I personally like south coast Subaru the best between the two choices you have. Haven't had many experiences with them 2x for services. But my sister takes her sti there for maintenance and one of my coworkers been taking his STI there for years always gives them raving reviews when it comes up.

i dont have any direct experience with either of those dealerships, but a buddy of mine always drives down to south coast subaru from LA to get his evo serviced... and he is super particular and ocd about his car.

south coast subaru was by far the worst dealership I've ever been to (when car shopping).
Absolutely terrible. I wouldn't go there. Maybe service side is better, but sales side was horrendous. |

I just made an appointment with South Coast for next week. Thanks for the response guys! |
South coast subaru flat out told me I didn't have a leak on brz when it was literally dripping and brown underneath.
Ended up going to Pacific Subaru (most reviews by far and also highly rated) and they worked on my leak. They also made an exception to fix my clutch despite running a modified tune. However their wording here is a bit suspect. Due to the tune, subaru of America recommended not to work on thr clutch but since Pacific Subaru felt thr clutch issue was purely mechanical, they said they'd do it and cover it under warranty if it's mechanical. If not they'll put the transmission back and not charge me the diagnostic and teardown. I was still under warranty. I also ended going to Irvine subaru who also looked into my clutch issues. Here they didn't charge me anything up front, no scaring me with "we might charge you". They opened up my transmission three times, had throwing bearing replaced and pressure plate relaxed, no charge. In review, South Coast subaru seemed lazy, Pacific Subaru is a bit more by the books and Irvine subaru seems more easy going. Just my experience of course. |
