FR-S: Highbeam turns on lowbeam, how to disable?

Scenario: Its day time, and youre driving down the road. Your DRLs are on, your low beams are not. You hit the high beam switch, and the low beams come on at the same time as the highs.

Problem: You have HIDs for low beams, and quickly flashing your high beams can shorten the life/damage the ballasts and bulbs.

Is there any way to modify the system so only the high beams turn on when you flash them?

why do you need to flash your lights during the day?

Haven't you ever signalled anyone with the use of flashing your headlights? It's like saying, "no you go first."

I'm pretty sure that was hazard lights. That might just be a location thing though.

Main lights are more visible to oncoming traffic... I'm talking after you've gone past them, signaling the people who are going towards them. Now that you mention it though, I think it's high beams not low :/

All the cars I've ever had were set up so a half pull on the light lever would flash high beams whether the headlights were turned on or not. Flashing low beams at the same time is definitely a design flaw.
