What are your plans for when the car is paid off?

This thread is not about loan equity, auto loan as an investment, etc - but more focused on what people plan on doing after their loan. This will be my first new car that I plan on holding onto for the whole loan term (4ish years), and if I plan on buying another car I will ideally have this car's value considered.

Since the depreciation from year 1-3 are the worst I'll probably ride years 4-6 with no payments and save more before another purchase. Hopefully it's not wishful thinking to see this car valued at 10k+ at 6 years old and another 10k down to shift my shopping closer to a used RC-F or see what's new again.

Anyone else? Reason I ask is I'm always curious when people decide to switch between cars and why, after some looking at #s today I was surprised at the trade-in values of these cars after 1 year and wondered what people plan on doing with that considered.

I've only traded cars after I've paid the loan off. Not on any moral or financial grounds, really. It just seems silly to eat the brunt of the depreciation in the first couple of years just to trade into another loan.

Keep it and maintain it for as long as possible

this. I bought my car cash.

Ideally I would keep it and turn it into a dedicated track car.

Old world values which most people have now forgotten.

Keep it forever. Sometimes, in my opinion, I don't understand how people can let go of their car after caring for it for multiple years! It's like a family member!

Buy a new one and start all over again. What that new one will be remains to be seen and will be based upon what is out there at that point.
Oh, and before everybody jumps on me with "keep it" it is important to note that it will have about 300,000 miles on it. But... since I get paid mileage the car is technically paid for in a little over a year and a half without touching my actual income.

Well in my case, I'll sell it for something with more power and back seats. Maybe a decent comfortable sedan, and a motorcycle. Who knows?

I already have my MR2 turbo as a weekend/track car. It's lighter and has more power than my BRZ so no complaints there.

Honestly doing this many miles I would want a more comfortable/quiet car.

I drive about 7000 miles a year so I can deal with some roughness around the edges but I'm not sure how you do it.

I love it and find it very comfortable and I got used to the noise. Oh, and mine is lowered and has TRD catback so it is even rougher and louder than stock!

Buy a truck and trailer and stop paying for the street registration on it. #becauseracecar

I actually love the ride quality in this car. It might just be me and a few select people, but I find it very exhilarating.
