Oil weights for summer

Hey guys, I just made a trip to Vegas a couple of weeks ago while running standard 0W20 oil and by the time I arrived at my hotel, the engine felt like it was running water instead of oil. Meaning the oil felt very thin is the best way to describe it. This gets me worried because it was only about 75-80 degrees that day and you guys know how our summers are. Is everyone happy with 0W20 or should i switch it up to 5W30 when it heats up? No track days and is my daily. Posting it here because our weather situation is not like most of the rest of the country.

5w-30 is a good idea IMO. It's what I run year round.

I will only ever run 0W-20 but thats just me

0w20 If you do not track you car. 5w30 syntech If you go at the track...

And how you can presumed the oil is not right? Because you touch it?

Send your oil here after an oil change then you will see if everything is fine!

Call for an container it's free... You just need to pay for the test.

Well the temp gauge didn't go up or anything but the characteristics of the engine changed by the time I got there. The tone of the engine changed to a lighter tone. This was also the first decently long road trip over taken with this car. Normally the longest I drive is about 1 and a half hours.

It's normal, Toyota/Subaru knew what they were doing when they put 0w20 in it

To performance cars yes this would be my first. Just trying to make things last until I'm able to build.

Just use what the manual suggests

I'm well aware of what oil I can use. I was just curious if anyone recommended going heavier since 115 degree summers. Also I bought used and it did not have an owners manual so pretty much anything I do is based off these forums.

Manual can be found online. Your engine gets hotter than the weather outside so it won't make a difference until you're racing

Alright thanks. Guess I'll stick with 0W20.

You have a guy here who talk about oil and warm climate Basic Bolt on mods intake, exhaust tuning guide :

But if you not track your car I think OEM oil is still fine base on the owner Manuel recommendation.

I just recently checked my oil, using 0-w20 subaru oil and I had some consumption it seemed. Same thing I saw in my bugeye WRX on factory spec oil. I am going to switch to Rotella T6 that I use in my WRX still next time around. Phoenix heat and subaru recommended 0-w20 just don't mix in my experience.
