Just to save everyone the trouble:
Dude from NY goes to CA to buy a s2k hardtop with coilovers. Dude pays owner who happens to own a car shop and verbal agrees to store car till transport picks up for shipping.

Once car gets delivered new owner finds no hard top and no coilovers. Calls previous owner and says wtf. Previous owner says fuck you we didn't agree the car would come with what was posted on ad.

New owner post it to car forums, comedy ensues with Yelp/fb/Instagram/phone call trolls.

Last I read new owner is poundering law action, has not received said parts from ad. Previous owner is mad at trolling.

Yeah we were talking about this last night. PO's yelp for his business went from like 4.5 stars to 1 star on yelp in nothing flat, to the point that yelp is cleaning it all up now LOL. The power of the internet is a great thing.

The power of a couple cans of gas and a lighter is pretty powerful too.

I get everything in writing. I've had freinds sign notarized contracts before.

Why not just pay a few homeless people to go by every few days and take a dump on the front doorstep of that shop...that sends plenty of messages :D

I love how all different car communities on the internet are all over this trashing the sellers reputation. He deserves to be shamed out of business.

Yeah, it sucks it happened. but if I'm flying cross country to get a car I'll personally want to see the car get loaded. Then again I wouldn't go cross country for a Craigslist ad.

Technically, this isn't a "bait and switch" as the buyer says in the post, its a theft. The buyer owned the car at the time the parts were removed, as the money had exchanged hands. I'd have the guy arrested.

It's stories like these that make me hesitant to trust anyone, no matter how friendly they look. Hope this works out for the buyer.

I'd say it's more like I wouldn't buy out of state unless I took the car home with me then and there.

I try not to trust people in matters like this.

Yeah with any kind of major purchase (thousands of dollars), you really have to CYA, whether dealing with friend or stranger. Greed/money has a way of taking the best of people sadly.
