2016 FR-S vs 2014 WRX Hatchback

Hey guys, I'm 18 and am looking for a newer car. I daily a 1996 celica with 230k miles on it. I've test driven both cars, the FRS more freely than the WRX. With that said I could easily feel the torque dip, but I could get to the higher rpms. I'm leaning towards the FRS because it seems more approachable as far as modifying it. The WRX on the other hand is a better daily driver, the AWD is good for snow but it's not a huge concern. The FRS is better on gas and I could work up towards FI in the future. I know the stats of these cars pretty well, what I wanna know is how is owning an FRS for a daily? Any suggestions from you all? If the financial aspect gets tight then a used 2013 FRS would be a no brainier and I could pick one up for 18k. Any comments would be appreciated!

Not to be short, but these are two totally different cars.

If you want a sports car, get the FR-S

If you want a hot hatch, get the WRX

Figure out which type of car you want/need first, then go from there.

Well I want a fun daily sports car. I know just about every spec about them, I just want to know from the owners if there are any regrets, or if not reasons you like your FRS over a WRX or vice versa

We can't tell you what the best fit for you is.

If you want a fun, impractical car, FRS

If you want a fun, fast, practical hatchback, WRX.

I came from a WRX to the FRS.. I like the FRS more because it is a sportscar the WRX was a sedan and most people will look at it as just a sedan/ or a wagon in your case. Yes the AWD is good but only when you need it, awd for daily driving isn't all that great because the FRS does in fact get better gas mileage than the wrx. In the end it's your car but I love my FRS 1000x better than I loved my wrx. Yeah I miss it sometimes.. but I only seem to miss it when I need to go to the snow, which has only been twice in these past 2 years.

Yeah I've thought about that a lot I have a 6th gen celica and the FRS is a lot smaller but I can get over that. I mean I don't need the seats for kids or anything . Then go for a WRX around 2020 when I'm out of college and keep the FRS for the weekend.

Thanks for the replies by the way! I've been leaning towards the FRS more so I may just go for one soon when I can. Keep commenting if you have any more compelling points

Oh yeah big time. My girlfriend already got me a flossy shorty. So be expecting a build from me starting up within the next few months and coming years. I want to stick to all around performance but reliable daily driver, until I have the WRX or Focus RS or any other vehicle. Not sure about forced induction just yet.

Theres lots of information on the forums here. N/A power people have been able to get over 40+whp with just header, intake, tune, and full exhaust.
squared > staggered (everyone seems to run 17x9 enkei RPF1)
Sway bars can really fuck up your handling if you don't know what you're doing
Front camber sucks for these cars as they are non-adjustable stock. You will need around -2 (through crash bolts, top hats, or coils) for better handling.
