Anyone ever heard of them before? Surely someone will snap this up for the price. http://www.ebay.com/itm/272167297421...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.sportronicracing.co.za/#!...rz-turbo/l2sd2 |
It looks like an altered greedy knock off.

Well couple points against that notion. The SBD has flex joints on the Headers this one doesn't. It's also not cleanly welded. Looks hand made with off the shelf metal pipe. The passenger side exhaust has a wicked 90 curve it looks like. The wastegate pipe is vastly different. The intercooler is much smaller. The main intake pipe is different also, the Bov looks like it's further away from the TB. No heat shield or turbo blanket. The intake piping is different not just the BOV being mounted further as well. Doesn't look like it comes with a higher bar MAP sensor either. The Turbo also looks like it just sits on the header flange. I don't see any mounting to support the turbo on the pulley bolts. I don't see any mounting hardware for the intercooler either. Total Knock off. I like how on their website it has a pdf for fitment. The Pdf just says "Coming Soon" on one page. You can only mount a turbo in these cars a few ways in a few places. And if you keep the intake piping short you only really have one way to route it. So your going to have kits that are similar in placement. Now if any of those pipes have "Greddy" stamped to them and badly die grinded off, well that's a different story. |
This forum supports knock offs so it'll do probably do well if they pay the fees to be a vendor here.

No one whines about the Hexon turbo kit, which is far more similar to the Greddy than this. This kit appears to use a WRX flanged turbo(many turbo options), a hand made manifold and some spray painted piping. It looks very cheap, but not copied. I would hardly call it a Greddy knock off. |

how some people find these weird, obscure parts for our cars is beyond me.
Like, do you search google and then go to the 9th page of search results? |

Anyone who writes a story about a male protagonist going on an adventure is just ripping off Lord of the Rings. Or is it the Hobbit? Or Star Wars? Or Robocop? Maybe their ripping off Lord of the flies. Or hell, Jesus is a male protagonist who goes on an adventure. Every author is just ripping off Jesus!
They say their are only 7 basic plots that can be told. Any story ever made falls into one or a mix of several of those plots. Guess every author from Stephen King to Shakespeare is just ripping off someone else. Again, you can only route a pipe in this car a few ways. You only have a few spots you can put a turbo. If it goes in the front between the radiator and the engine, then your header can only be shaped a certain way. So now you're starting to look similar to others. Not because your "copying" them but because from an engineering standpoint that's the most efficient design you can get. Why do you think so many cars are starting to look to like each other? It's not because companies are copying each other. It's because physics dictate that a car can only be so aerodynamic and shapes will universally start to fall into the same style as THATS the most efficient form. Best example. Did you know Russia was working on a Space shuttle at one time too. If you go look it up you'll find it looks almost identical to the USA shuttle. When Russian scientist were questioned about the design, concern being that the Soviet Union had stolen NASA secrets... they replied no. When making a reusable space capsule your limited in the ways you can return it to the earth. It will need wings to be "flown" in and landed. It will need a certain shape to keep g force stresses to a minimal during take off and re-entry. That "shuttle" shape is just the most effective form for doing that, that we can make at this time. Greedy did nothing proprietary with their turbo kit. You can't patent charge pipe layouts. And reality is, if Zage stole from Greedy...why have they not been sued? Taiwan has a court system. Greedy is/was a big company. Zage pipes allegedly had Greedy logo's on them but Greedy claimed they had no parternship with Zage. That would mean Zage had gotten ahold of the molds somehow? Its all very shady. And seeing people run around and white knight with the "it's another Greedy ripoff" just makes me chuckle. No one knows what really happened or is happening with Greedy/Zage and this banner call for a company that frankly I've seen very few people run "Greedy's" kits on their cars, Is odd to me. If such love for Greedy, why do few people run their kit? Anyways, enough ranting from me. Greedy Justice Warriors continue your crusade. |
Y'all arguing with a furry from Florida. Just in case you need a 3rd person perspective.
