Door Step Lights for FRS?
Good day
I removed the door step reflector, it actually has a bulb holder, looked inside for a wiring harness, didn't see anything. Anyone considered this addition? |
Id like to do this as well.
Me too! thank you for taking the time to figure out that there is indeed a bulb holder there.
I think that would be nice to add also. Especially on the passenger side, it can be tricky to get into.
If there's no harness it's going to be painful. Like, take apart entire door painful.
Disassembly was once my middle name
im dying to do this also -- i hate that they dont light up.... maybe the BRZ harness would fit somewhere -- ??
everytime i hear of stuff like this when i know Subaru included (HIDs, LEDs, Homelink) .. i say the same thing - stupid Scion ! |
I'm definitely interested in doing this one day.
Scions are typically pre-wired for illuminated door sills and interior illumination kits. Although this is built in a Subaru plant, I wouldn't doubt that it's the same case. I haven't looked at the accessory list in a while, but I would assume that Scion is planning on releasing illuminated door sill protectors soon.
Time to disassemble the door
I don't see a harness, but you can probably splice for power somewhere.

it would be helpful to see how the BRZ door looks and where they are pulling power from...

I pulled apart my door today, unfortunately..
I dont own a limited & the bare door looks identical to the picture posted above. I do however have the subaru part number for the door step lights. "COURTESY LAMP AY CLR" - 94256CA000 I just received mine. I was planning on retrofitting my BRZ with them but it is also not a plug an play affair. BRZ wiring manual was just released so Ill break it out w/ my multimeter when I have time and see what we can use. Hopefully theres something in there. The FR-S should be identical...i think? |
