how to change radio setting

Hi,
I received my FR-S without an audio guide (it's on order) and have read on these forums about changing the stereo from TC setting to FRS for better sound. How do I do that?
Thanks.

With the car turned on, but the stereo turned off, press straight in on the knob for the settings menu.

I am full of useful information. Also? Organ meats. Useful information and lot and lots of organ meats. :D

Incidentally, I think it's in that same settings menu that you can change the "Scion" message that displays when you start the car up, to a custom message of your own choosing (up to 12 characters).

Thanks, that worked great!

I'm in the exact same boat. I just picked up my FR-S on Saturday and that evening, I tried to change the radio settings. The FR-S was not listed. Turns out I was given a radio model that ends in "120". The one that's supposed to be installed on the FR-S is the "130". These models correlate with model year.

Do you still have a radio manual? Does the part number end with "120"? If so, this may be a bigger issue that Scion is not telling their dealerships that there is a difference between the two models.

I don't really know what I'm missing out on with no FR-S setting. Is the sound equalizer that different?

the audio in the car is awesome and i have no problems with it. i dont think it would be that much of a difference. Dont fix something thats not broken as they say. lol

Anyone else know what the difference is between the two settings?

Then it sounds like they installed the wrong radio in your car. I'd contact your dealer, and ask what's up.

Same problem here. I finally got fed up with the poor sound coming from the speakers found this thread and went to change it from Tc only to find that I have no FR-S setting. Anyone have any luck with the dealership switching out the head unit with the correct version? Or am I doomed to mediocrity??

ohayo 06-21-2013 11:20 AM

it seems so nitpicky but seems I'm in the same boat with no fr-s setting :(

would a dealer exchange for the "correct" unit?
