My experience: I drive a 2015 FRS with manual transmission. Currently about 26,000 miles on the car. The car is totally stock.

I've driven two trips of 8000 miles each. One from where I live to Key West, Fl and back home. The other from where I live to western New York State and back home.

This engine is designed for revs up to 7500 rpm. No problem at freeway speeds then for sure.

Problem one: Driving from Clearwater, FL to Edgewater, FL. About 175 miles and it took about 5 hours. So it's the downright horrible traffic there.

Problem two: This car is low. Lots of flying objects at freeway speeds do damage to bumper, hood, roof, windshield. This car has soft paint as well.

On freeway trips I drive about 7-10 mph over the speed limits. Occasionally hit 100 mph on trips, briefly at times...simply due to the boredom of a day's drive. Speed limit is 80 mph in some places. One day, just for laughs I opened it up. Speedo said 142 very briefly. Amazingly, at that speed the car felt very solid, except for a little hood flutter, later corrected easily by adjusting it's front stops.

My car still runs and drives just fine. I do hear wind noise just slightly more than some other cars. And this car rides roughly only on badly pot holed streets.

My car does have a radio. Never listen to the actual radio, but do sometimes listen to music via USB input and SD card. Most times I'd rather listen to the car itself. Sound system is never on in traffic.

I'm happy with the car. Would not want any other car for commuting long distances or for road trips.

My Aftermarket radio is running android and has access to all the apps on the google play market.


I got kodi, dish anywhere, youtube, Pandora and an dash cam app that works straight from the radio and records in the background to an SD card.


The radio has 2 sd ports one for the dash cam and the other for media etc.


I also have a sub fiberglass enclosure and Rockford mini amp which is enough for my taste.

Wow. That's normal off the shelf Castrol Edge 0W-20? That's what I've been using my past 2 changes but was thinking about going to Amsoil. If that's your result I'll just stick with Castrol. How many miles on your change interval?

Its the stuff in the gold bottle. Castrol is switching formulas and the stuff thats currently in the gold bottles (what I am running) is going to become the standard stuff in the black bottle and the new formula will be even better thats going in the gold bottles. :thumbup:

I only do 5000km's but honestly its good for a lot longer

All the research I've ever read about oil pretty clearly shows that, with normal usage and frequent changes, the brand doesn't really matter at all. Nor does synthetic vs regular. Synthetics just extend the interval. Specialty oils protect in extreme situations like low pressure at the track, and it keeping pressure up. That's about it. I'd be surprised if the lowest quality, crappiest Castrol, Mobil, or any brand would have an issue at 5000km.

I would suggest:

Add a comfortable armrest.

Putting the stock exhaust back on (if replaced).

Plug up the sound tube.

Get some quiet, road tires.

Have a sound system that gets satellite reception.

swap 2jz, or LS1. Get a turbo or supercharger.
drive faster to work to reduce your commute time.

butt cushion, arm rest, cruise control and quieter tires.

I can confidently say that watching porn whilst driving would not be a good idea. I'm surprised you didn't crash while that was going on. :lol:

And to those who suggest a Camry, after the first long trip in the FRS my wife and I both realized just how shitty the seats are in the Camry. No contest.
