H&R Sport vs TRD Springs

Good morning ladies and gents, my BRZ is completely stock at the moment. When I get it back from the shop next week (long story) I'm gonna install the STi Body kit I have sitting in my garage, and I want to get some 18's by the end of the month. I want to, on top of this, lower the car. I read up on the TRD Springs lowering the vehicle about 7/8" and the H&R springs lowering claims to be 1 in in the front and 1.2 in the rear. I want to close up the wheel gap a bit, but not be scraping during DD. I know the STi kit makes the car a bit closer to the ground, but I'm not sure how much lower I can go before scraping. If anyone else has other spring suggestions, I'm completely open but I have been looking primarily at these after reading pretty good reviews. Thanks

Swift springs or RCE yellows are what I would be looking at if I was you.

trd springs only if you plan to autocross stock class. rce yellows for anything else. the h&r being lower in back will make more camber than the front unless you get bolts or plates

I have the Eibach Pro kit (same springs as the TRD springs) on my BRZ with 18" wheels. Go look at the Crystal Black Silica gallery on the last page to see how it looks on mine. There's roughly 0.5" of wheel gap if I had to guess. I can put a finger between tire and fender. Might want to pick up some SPC camber bolts if you go with the same wheels :)

Not really relevant since he has a BRZ and they don't get to use the TRD springs or Sway Bars in C Street.

If you care about ride quality I'd suggest not to drop more than an inch on just springs. The ride will be bouncy and harsh. On another note I don't think you'll need to worry too much about being too low, keep in mind that moving to 18s will make the car higher.

18 by what? How wide are you trying to go?

Read this thread... worth the time

Swift springs, RCE Yellow, TRD/Eibach Pro are my suggested options.

I don't think I would lower a car lower than 1" anymore, even on coilovers (Unless you are willing to spend $ to correct the suspension geometry). I tried it, thought it handled well, and it was shit in comparison. (Just didn't know better)

Keep in mind that a wider wheel or lower offset may push the wheel out closer to the edge of the fenders, and that alone could make it look like you have less wheel gap. Perhaps you should get the wheels and STi kit installed first, drive around to see how often you scrape, then figure out how much you want to lower the car. Do more research in the forums here to see how much other people lower their cars with a certain wheel fitment. Plenty of photos in the wheel thread.

Sizing up to an 18" wheel will NOT make the car higher. That is based on what tire size you choose, and you'll usually get a tire with a lower profile sidewall.

For example, a 225/45R17 and 225/40R18 tire both have the same diameter of 25".

I have a street car FRS which I just installed the TRD springs last weekend. I drove the stock springs setup for over 30k miles and 2.5 years. I am glad I installed these. The car looks better and actually rides smoother. I am happy with these...

The stock suspension is quite good, isn't it? I regret wasting money on coilovers (cheaper ones anyways)... Stock + good springs are a good bang for buck.

yeah, It Is fun!! I completed nearly 120 autocross laps with 100 percent stock suspension. It was fun. I'm not a championship competitor but just practice and have fun.

Your situation sounds like mine (minus the 18 inch wheels)

I recommend RCE yellow springs, mild drop and increases handling performance.
