2016 BRZ in August or 2017 BRZ in November?

After originally telling me that production on the 2017s would be starting in May, and I could get mine in July, my dealer has just received the schedule from Subaru and the 2017's production actually will start in August.

So my choice is as stated in the title.

I think the sensible thing to do is wait - but I'm buying a BRZ, how much should "sensible" come into it?

One good thing is that I'm in a tropical country, so it's not like I'm going to run out of 'summer' driving conditions.

Any opinions?

Get 1 ASAP and start to enjoy it ASAP. You only have so many days to live so its better to start living today rather then tomorrow.

Yeah, and who knows - the 2017 might be uglier.

BRZerk 03-08-2016 12:08 PM

id wait.

Veloist 03-08-2016 12:12 PM

I would wait mainly to see if there are any changes to performance.

I think the 2017 will be more awesome.

Im just afraid if the face will be changed. :'(

Dont hold your breath for the "221whp lion edition AWD turbo hybrid" model @MisterSheep @KR-S 86 @finch1750

Best guess is the delay is to allow for Scion to finish out the model year. After August Toyota rebrands the car for the states. Whatever changes are coming, the motoring press seems to think will be minimal.

I would wait. You're so close to the new model coming out anyways. Maybe they look better? Maybe they do add a slight bump in HP.... who knows!?!?! Wait it out.

Buy now and regret it later.

kch 03-08-2016 02:16 PM

wait. if you like the changes on the 2017, you can get the freshest 86 out there. if you don't, you might be able to get a sweet deal on a 2016. win/win.

Order a pizza.

zc06_kisstherain 03-08-2016 02:27 PM

Wait to see the updates and then make your decision.
