2014 BRZ CEL/TRAC/TIRE LIGHTS on. please help
Hi, I just purchased a used 2014 BRZ and had it for couple days but I'm already having these problems.
First, the tire are all 35psi as recommended on the door, but the tire pressure lights were on and won't turn off even though i drove the car for about 20-30miles. So i went up a little to 36psi and also drove it for about the same amount but still no luck. Second, the Check Engine Lights came on at the same time as the Traction Control.. No idea why, i went back to the dealer where i got the car but said that this is normal for the car about 20k mileages.. They told me the Crankshaft Positioning Sensor is needed to be replaced.. And i have to pay them to get it fixed.. Third, when i go to about 50 - 60 mph.. there's a noise and vibration that i think is coming from the front either in the engine or the wheels.. Hope you guys can help me out and tell me what really is the problem so maybe instead of me being ripped off by the dealer where i got it from and i can just do it myself. :( |
Hi ya @Tomec.lunasin and welcome to our fine forum.
Well, you got a used car. Time to do a little fixing. As far as the tire pressure sensors, I'd suggest you reduce the pressure to 25 psi and then run it up to 40 psi and then back down to 35 psi. Maybe one or more is "stuck". Then again maybe one is bad. As far as the CEL, I'd suggest you have it read (or read it yourself) to verify the code(s). Doesn't that car dealer have any warranty that comes with their cars? I'd suggest you talk with the general manager or the owner. As to the front end, I'd suggest you have the front tires balanced and the alignment checked. I hope you get er squared away! humfrz |
Alright. Ill try those things. Thank you for your help. Will let you know what happens next. Uhm i didnt have any warranty. But the manager said he will help me out. @humfrz

I'm guessing it was not a Subaru dealer where you bought the car. So it is unlikely this dealer knows what is typical for cars with 20K (which is not true anyway)
How many miles are on the car now? |
20.5k miles. @pantdino

At 20k miles you should still be under factory basic warranty. Ask why the dealer will not replace the cam sensor under warranty.

Agreed. These cars have a 36,000 mi, 3 yr bumper to bumper warranty The dealer should be fixing this under warranty. Did you buy this from a non-Subaru or Toyota dealer and they are trying to scam you into paying for something the manufacturer will pay for? Also, since it is a mechanical item which has failed it is probably covered under the 60K mi powertrain warranty. This dealer sounds like a crook you should report to the Bureau of Automotive Repair What dealer is it, exactly? People should be warned to stay away from them. |
