Leonardo DiCaprio Oscar... finally?
So DiCaprio finally won an Oscar. But my question, is why now?
|
Why not?

DeCaprio was due. Also, he carried most of the film by himself, so that is always good for a win.
Outrage of the night: "Writing's on the Wall" won for Best Song over Lady Gaga's "'Till it Happens to You". A thoroughly mediocre song chosen over a great one. Best win of the night: "Spotlight" for Best Film. Saw this on Saturday evening, what a truly fine acting ensemble piece and a compelling story. Most delayed and justified win: Ennio Morricone for his score to "The Hateful Eight." An incredible talent and one whose recognition is justly deserved. At 87 years of age, we have to say, "Better late than never." |

Even discounting the that the whole thing is at some level the Hollywood equivalent of electing "Sr Class President" (popularity and marketing count as much or more than true talent) if you should have won in a previous year and didn't doesn't mean you should win now. |

If I like a movie then I like a movie. Never really cared for award shows.
The same applies for music, games, books, etc. |
