Glass Cleaning

Wanted to know what products you guys use to clean your glass. I live in FL and we have hard water down here so after a car wash there are hard water spots on the glass. It seems that no matter what I try to do I can't get those tough water spots off the glass and it's starting to get aggravating! I know the best way is polishing the glass but, in between full details there's just not much time for that..

Any recommendations on product or process?

I live in FL and use autoglym window polish. It's just as easy as windex and you use so little I've had this bottle for 4 years. Look it up on Amazon.

I had issues with glass cleaner leaving streaks and fogging no matter what cloth or wipe I used. Found Sparkle Glass Cleaner on a recommendation........awesome stuff.

You may want to clay bar the windscreen to remove any debris, or use #0000 steel wool.

Honestly after a car wash you should just keep a microfiber drying towel and dry off the car (or at least the glass) to avoid the spots. Takes a minute or two for a car this small.

Any auto glass cleaner is fine. I like [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Stoner-91164-Invisible-Glass-Cleaner/dp/B0007OWD2M"]Stoner Invisible Glass[/ame]. The key is to use plain (non-glossy) crumpled up newspaper instead of paper towels. Always do a final polish with a new, clean piece of newspaper.

I normally spray all my windows with an glass cleaner I picked up at the automotive store, after every wash. Clean inside and outside. Go in a top to bottom motion for outside and then a side to side motion on the inside, that way you can see where you have leftover streaks that need to be wiped out.

Yep, the Stoners product, along with a microfiber towel works for me.

A claybar may remove hard water stains already there.

It's more or less these nagging water spots that seem to always be on the glass no matter how much I wash/dry the car or what method I use.

I appreciate all the recommendations, I'm going to try each one until I find which one I like the most.

You might try some vinegar or some ammonia or some acetone or some of that bathroom cleaner (Lime away) that claims to clean off hard water deposits.

......and...... there is always hydrochloric acid ....... ;)

I had bad fogging and streaking issues. I finally tried ethyl alcohol. Worked amazing. May have to do it a few times but it gets deep down dirt and grease off the glass. Use a microfiber to polish it after.

What to use to clean the inside and cristals are tinted?

If you're getting water spots on the glass then you might want to start waxing your glass. Other than that, just be quicker and wipe the water away with your drying towels before they can leave any deposits.

For interior glass, the Stoner's Invisible Glass reach-and-clean tool is excellent, especially for getting in corners and for cleaning the rear glass:

I keep the glass towels in a plastic bag and keep them separate from all my other detailing supplies so that they don't become contaminated.

Invisible glass, it does magic

I even have a device like the one shown in the video and still, trying to clean the inside of the rear window is like some bizarre form of ancient torture. It's literally awful.
