I even have a device like the one shown in the video and still, trying to clean the inside of the rear window is like some bizarre form of ancient torture. It's literally awful.

If you're getting water spots on the glass then you might want to start waxing your glass. Other than that, just be quicker and wipe the water away with your drying towels before they can leave any deposits.
For interior glass, the Stoner's Invisible Glass reach-and-clean tool is excellent, especially for getting in corners and for cleaning the rear glass:

I keep the glass towels in a plastic bag and keep them separate from all my other detailing supplies so that they don't become contaminated.
