Vancouver Gokarting Meet

UPDATE: DUE TO WEATHER, THIS HAS BEEN MOVED TO SATURDAY JULY 7TH

Hello fellow Vancouver Members!

I was planning on taking a trip out to F440 this weekend because I've heard they will be closing soon. If anyone wants to join me your more then welcome too.

When: Sunday between 10am and 10:30am. I prefer the morning to avoid the little kids who show up around noon.

Where: F440 behind Splashdown Park in Tawassen. Website can be found here.

I plan on running the club karts and I suggest everyone do the same. They are the best bang for the buck on this course. You can pay extra to drive a 9HP kart but trust me, you won't be able to use all the extra speed because the course is very tight with little straights. The 6HP club karts are almost just as fast in terms of laptimes.

Also, If I could offer you all a word of warning and advice, DO NOT EAT BEFORE THE RACE. This course is very intense if your pushing hard and your body will feel the G forces big time. So this might be the day you want to skip a big breakfast or at least bring it with you.

I plan on going if the weather is good. If it turns out to be raining on Sunday morning, the shows off! Or we'll have to move it to monday. I just called F440 and confirmed they will be open this Sunday at 10am.

Anyone and everyone is welcome!

Ben

I am up for a drive

Sounds fun,

But I was thinking of going for a drive up to Lillooet (130km North-East of Whistler) for some good corners on Sunday or Monday if the weather looks good.

Right now the weather says no. So I'm going to just play it by ear.

If its raining on Sunday when we wake up, forget about it. I don't think it will be fun in the rain.

If its sunny, I'll be there between 10 and 10:30. I plan on at least running for 1 hour also.

I went out on a "night cruise" with 2 silver S2000's last week up near that direction. Lots of fun to be had on the sea to sky highway. But there is zero room for error though.

One of the S2000's I was with had a straight pipe exhaust and it sounded sweet bouncing off the rocks.

The last (& 1st) time I went to F440, I had a bad experience with the kart I was driving. It was the slowest one there! Foot all the way down and still slower than everyone else's kart. :( Maybe I got a malfunctioning one...

Was there a helmet incident that happened at F440 that I read in the other chat thread?

Too bad you had this happen. You should have tried to switch karts. I'm sure if you pulled in to the pits and asked, they would have given you another. I always ask the guys which one is best, and they let me pick my own. Even if they've already assigned me one.

Looks like overcast only this morning. I think the weather is good enough to warrent an attempt this morning. I will get them to take some photos for you guys.

It's a commonly known fact that their karts are very uneven. The track is very nice though.

On a similar note, why don't we go to the indoor one down at Richmond next time? No weather trouble there, although less room to pass.

Have you been since they got the new sodi2 karts ? I went last year and each one I had was fairly even.

I've actually done the thursday night enduro all by myself once. All 118 laps of it. The only thing I don't really like about the indoor place is smooth concrete and the pillers. I wish there was more room.

In the end, it was raining too much today.
