86 Atlanta

Hey everyone,

This is Kevon R., one of the 86ATL admins. I figured it wouldn't be a bad idea to post a recent update about the group.

I would like to say that 86ATL is, one of the few main southeast groups and by far one of the best. (There is also Orlando 86 and Houston 86.) Our group originated here on the forums with about 15 of us back in 2013. Now, we are over 400 strong.

We pride ourselves on a respectable and self sufficient community. The group as a whole cares about its public image, and only gives our 86ATL decal to those who we feel have earned it.

What do we do?
86ATL is comprised of members who enjoy driving. Our group regular organizes safe mountain runs, as well as participate in official track days from professional organizers only. We may cruise through a parking lot meet every once in a while, but you are more likely to find us wrenching on our own cars (whether individually or as a group) or shredding tires.

Why should I join you guys? What are the benefits?
I really don't care if you join us. We aren't out to get as many Instagram followers as we can. If you do want to come to the dark side, you will quickly learn that we have access and knowledge to pretty much everything about our cars. Suspension, wheels, tires, turbos, superchargers, tuning and installation, cosmetic, whatever, we have access to it all (except body work). We will definitely help you save a few pennies. Aside from the material side, we just know how to have fun with our cars.

Any awesome cameos?
We work with DBW Motorsports and also have ties to Forged Performance so you will see some of the top dogs out there with us. We also work with Killboy from the well known Tail of the Dragon. There are also a few individually sponsored (semi-sponsored) members in the group too.

How do I join?
To join, you need to be local or within the surrounding states. We check all profiles before acceptance. We do not allow or accept individuals with ruined/broken cars due to the safety concern that those cars pose. (No hashtag herrafrush, sorry stance guys). We do keep everything respectful, but we do not sugar coat what we say. If you are an individual that gets butthurt over absolute nonsense, you might want to keep moving. Just follow the link below.

What will get me in trouble?
- We don't want to see videos of you drifting in a Walmart parking lot.
- Friendly banter and humorous trolling is accepted, but do not attack or disrespect anyone.
- Do not cross the double yellows.
- Your car must be street worthy. If you want to lay frame, you better be in bags.
- If you are associated with another group that causes trouble that extends beyond that group, you will be questioned.
- THERE ARE NO SECOND CHANCES!

I can confirm that 86 Atlanta is one of the best run groups you're going to come across.

Having watched it grow over the years it's become a great space for technical knowledge and information sharing while still having fun.

Organized runs and association with nearby HDPE event organizers along with a helpful team means that there's no difficulty in finding a place to enjoy your carw and improve your skills as a driver.

It truly is a great group... and part of the reason I came back to the platform after a brief hiatus :D

I requested to join the group after someone pointed me here from the new member post over in general. Just bought my FR-S yesterday and see a ton of the BRZ and FR-S around me locally. One of the guys 2 buildings down has a BRZ, makes me wonder if hes floating around here too.

Did you get through? We get a crazy amount of spam accounts and often times ignore requests. If you didn't get through, just PM me your name on Facebook. You can post your first name and last initial here.

PM one of us your Facebook name if you didn't get added after requesting, as he said above, there are lots of spam accounts we have to sort through and sometimes we miss people in the struggle to keep it real.

was this the group I went with to the Taco Mac and we met in the parking deck last year? I don't have FB so I'm kinda out of the loop on some things but the drama it saves me is worth it.

Georgia Smog Testing

Hello Atlanta 86ers! I'll be moving down that way in a few weeks from Michigan. I have a good deal going on an HKS V3 that I intend to snag before I head that way, but I'm concerned about Georgia smog testing. I've never lived in a state that does emissions testing and while Georgia doesn't seem nearly as strict as California, I have concerns about being able to pass with FI. Does anyone have any insight they can offer on this topic? Info seems to be conflicting and hard to come by.

Thanks!

From my experience, as long as you don't have any CELs you'll pass.
