What oil weight are you running in your supercharged FR-SÉ

And why do we not have a sticky for this?

Please state the conditions you typically drive in and climate etc

Mobil 1 0W40. Rarely driven in winter, except a few local pleasure drives when its mild and dry. Have an oil cooler, non thermostatic. HKS recommends an oil cooler and minimum 40 weight in the supercharger install manual. Actually, they recommend 42 weight or similar but I think that is a typo.

Got a deal on the Mobil 1 from a guy off Kijiji. I know, the Subaru turbo guys from NASIOC says its the devil's nectar for the EJ engines, but the FA doesn't seem to burn it.

I plan to track the car a few times this year.

I run Mobil 1 5w-30 oil since I'm supercharged

Packofcrows 02-21-2016 03:14 AM

0w20 most temps go from 50-110F

Motul 5w-40 or Eneos 0w-50. My car is stored in the winter and sees only limited street use. I also have a non thermostatic oil cooler as well, I'm not supercharged but I would use the same if I was. 5w-20 is really just for fuel economy and emissions not for beating on it.

bingo bango bongo.

Just ordered a bunch of this. Exactly what I was thinking. I ran 0W-40 Mobil last year but for the use it's seeing this year ... 5W40 Motul + RS*R Ran Up

I thought the 42 was a typo. Guess not.

no it is specifically tested on the HKS boosted FA20 platform, also the MX-5 uses this oil.

This is ester based oil so you can make any oil inbetween the normal grades.
oil pressure is much more stable and oil temp keeps very constant.

Mobil 1 0W40 is also a true ester based oil (one of very few widely available in most stores) and is probably A LOT less expensive than HKS. I think it is the German spec oil.

I've been running Castrol Edge 0w30 for the last 20k miles supercharged. I posted all my UOAs in another thread if you want to check it out.
